USA – Abbott has announced the release of an updated version of its Neurosphere MyPath digital health app.
The Abbott Park, Illinois-based company has created an advanced app with enhanced functionality to assist doctors in closely monitoring their patients as they test Abbott neurostimulation devices to relieve chronic pain.
According to a press release, Abbott’s digital health app is available for both Apple and Android devices, and it provides a doctor, their staff, and the patient with a unified view of patient-reported results at each stage of the treatment journey.
It also provides the user with a shared view of outcome measures, or dorsal root ganglion (DRG) medical device.
The Neurosphere allows for close tracking and documentation of pain via the MyPath app virtually at baseline and via a series of surveys administered throughout the trial period.
Questions cover the patient’s pain intensity, relief, and changes in physical function, as well as their overall well-being with and without the device throughout the treatment.
According to Abbott, after the trial, doctors may receive an end-of-trial report that is both concise and comprehensive.
The company created Neurosphere MyPath as part of its Neurosphere family of apps, which also includes Neurosphere Virtual Clinic, which allows patients to securely connect with their doctor from anywhere (with a cellular or Wi-Fi connection and a charged patient controller) to receive care.
In-app video chat and a remote programming feature are both included in the digital health app.
Using the clinician programmer app and a simple and secure remote care connection, Neurosphere enables clinicians to remotely prescribe new treatment settings to the patient’s neurostimulation device.
This upgrade is part of Abbott’s commitment to connected care technology and aims to allow people to take control of their health and facilitate better communication with their doctors.

Spinal cord stimulation and dorsal root ganglion therapy may help relieve chronic pain by interfering with pain signals as they travel along the spinal cord or dorsal root ganglia, a group of nerves that run along the spinal cord, before they reach the brain.
The Neurosphere of Abbott MyPath Digital Health App is intended to help people track and report on their pain relief and overall well-being.
As a result, doctors can better understand where their patients are in the journey and how they are responding to therapy, which is a key goal of Abbott’s connected care approach.
