UAE – The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has teamed up with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) to introduce a new flexible health insurance option in the emirate.

The DoH continues to update the regulations of the healthcare system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi with the aim of providing world-class health services to all members of the community.

The flexible health insurance policy provides support to entrepreneurs and investors by offering low and competitive rates on the healthcare package based on customer needs, geographical coverage, and benefits.

The joint testament said: “Companies or individuals planning to subscribe to the ‘flexible health insurance’ policy must contact health insurance companies when the current health insurance policy is about to expire to obtain more details and apply to the ‘flexible health insurance’ if the eligibility conditions are met.”

The policy will also be available to expatriates residing in the emirate who work in the private sector, on the condition that their monthly income exceeds US$1,361 (5,000 dirhams).

It will benefit the families and employees of entrepreneurs and investors as well as the family of the resident expatriate and his workers who are not covered by health insurance from the employer in both the governmental and private sectors.

At the same time, the insurance option allows flexible insurance holders to upgrade their insurance coverage in agreement with the insurance provider and conditions set by the Department of Health.

Health insurance providers will evaluate the condition and medical record of the insured to determine whether they will accept the request for inclusion in the ‘flexible health insurance’ policy,” stated the government agencies.

The new offering targets existing and potential entrepreneurs and investors, while attracting more investments in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi amid growing demand for insurance products.

The launch of the flexible health insurance policy further solidifies Abu Dhabi’s position on the global stage as a target destination for international talents and businesses and as a leading healthcare destination in the world.

The flexible health insurance policy will build on ongoing efforts to elevate the Emirate’s position as an attractive destination for entrepreneurs and investors willing to live and work in the Emirate.

It will broaden access to world-class healthcare services for all community members in accordance with the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Moreover, the flexible health insurance policy will complement the already available health insurance options in Abu Dhabi, including enhanced health insurance and basic health insurance.
