UAE – Abu Dhabi Health Services Company – SEHA has opened its latest eye care facility, marking the expansion of the Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC).

Similarly, a brand-new oncology facility christened the Fatima bint Mubarak Center opened at the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

The state-of-the-art facility at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City focused on serving pediatric rheumatology will help to steadily increase the average health span among populations in Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

In an official statement, the subsidiary of the PureHealth Group said: “The clinic takes a multi-disciplinary approach, with specialists from SKMC’s rheumatology and ophthalmology departments working together, to provide holistic care to patients.”

Located at the Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, the new facility is dedicated to delivering the best possible treatment for pediatric patients suffering from Uveitis, an inflammatory eye disease.

By coordinating care, patients can receive faster treatment plans, accurate information, and fewer hospital visits, leading to potentially improved outcomes for vision and rheumatologic problems,” stated the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company.

The facility will help to promote early prevention and diagnosis of Uveitis, which are crucial in ensuring prompt treatment and avoiding the risk of developing poor vision and blindness at all costs.

Backed by international organisations, the clinic will play a significant role in collecting data unique to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

The one-stop service center will provide more opportunities for research and academia while providing patients with specialist care for their inflammatory eye diseases.

This strategic move builds on ongoing efforts to provide personalized treatments and enhance the data available regionally for future consideration and planning of care delivery options.

Commenting on the elevation, Saeed Jaber Al Kuwaiti, Group Chief Executive Officer at SEHA, stated: “The new clinic at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City will help to promote a healthier lifestyle in Abu Dhabi and the UAE.”

He underscored that this new facility brings an integrated and transformative approach to diagnosing and treating pediatric rheumatological conditions, noting that it will help to advance pediatric eye care in the UAE.

Under the wise and visionary leadership of the country, SEHA aims to raise the benchmarks in healthcare excellence to world-class levels to drive efficiencies across the entire value chain,” underscored Al Kuwaiti.

SEHA is an independent, public joint stock company created to develop the curative activities of the public healthcare system in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

This PureHealth asset, the UAE’s largest integrated healthcare platform, operates 14 hospitals with over 3,000 beds, 70 ambulatory care, family care, and urgent care centers, and 3 blood banks.

The launch of the new clinic aligns with SEHA’s commitment to continuous improvement of customer care to recognized international standards and providing the community with world-class healthcare.

In her address, Sheikha Dr. Noura Khalid Al Qassimi, Consultant Ophthalmologist at SKMC, said: “The clinic will provide combined care while reducing the time between diagnosis and treatment. This treatment option can significantly improve the child’s outcome.”

Dr. Al Qassimi outlined that world-class experts can work together in the same setting to promptly agree on the diagnosis and management of pediatric rheumatological conditions.

She explained that the doctors will consult with the parents and family before starting the personalized treatment strategies to save the child’s sight.

Moreover, the Sheikh Khalifa Medical City has already welcomed patients to its new pediatric Uveitis clinic in line with PureHealth’s commitment to providing a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem that promotes longer, healthier, and fuller lives.
