QATAR— Aisha Bint Hamad Al Attiyah Hospital, part of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), has expanded its services to include obstetrics, gynaecology, and ambulance services in response to a growing number of patients.
As HMC’s second-largest facility, the hospital is set to play a crucial role in accommodating services being temporarily relocated from Hamad General Hospital during its renovation.
Since its inauguration in 2022, Aisha Bint Hamad Al Attiyah Hospital has offered a wide range of medical and surgical services across various specialties.
These include general and laparoscopic surgery, robotic interventions, and specialized care in bariatric surgery, gynaecology, urology, maxillofacial surgery, and orthopaedics.
In line with its continuous growth, the hospital introduced obstetrics and gynaecology services in September, followed by critical care for patients transported by the Ambulance Service in October.
Equipped with an Emergency Department, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the hospital has made significant strides in enhancing its service offerings.
Senior officials shared these updates in an interview with The Peninsula, where they discussed the hospital’s ongoing expansion efforts.
According to Dr. Ibrahim Fawzy, the medical director and acting chief executive officer of the hospital, which opened during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, it now operates with 400 beds, all equipped with cutting-edge medical technology and expertise.
Located in the Tenbek region between Al Khor and Lusail, the hospital collaborates with Al Khor Hospital to manage healthcare services across northern Qatar.
Dr. Fawzy added that the hospital accepts patients from areas such as Al Khor, Um Salal, Al Dayeen, Lusail, The Pearl, and even as far as Al Wakra and the Old Airport area.
In the Emergency Department, Dr. Rana Al Sayed, Senior Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Acting Head of the Department, shared that the hospital receives approximately 200 patients daily.
The department provides 24/7 high-quality care and is equipped to handle all types of cases, including minor traumas. Additionally, radiology and other subspecialty services are available on-call to support patient needs.
Since launching its Ambulance Service on October 11, the hospital has introduced 12 resuscitation beds with advanced equipment for critically ill patients. It also offers 29 urgent care beds, split between male and female patients.
Dr. Al Sayed emphasized the hospital’s commitment to ensuring all patients are triaged based on the severity of their condition to receive timely and appropriate treatment.
Meanwhile, the Radiology Department, led by Dr. Renan Elsadeg Ibrahem, Senior Consultant Radiologist and Clinical Lead, has conducted over 26,000 medical examinations since the hospital opened.
This has helped ease the pressure on radiology services at other hospitals. The department operates around the clock, providing diagnostic and therapeutic services, including MRIs under anaesthesia, CT scans, and ultrasounds for patients of all ages.
