UAE— Amana Healthcare, a member of the M42 group, has been honoured with the prestigious Diamond Award for “Safety in Digital Transformation” by the Arab Hospitals Federation.
This marks the third consecutive year the organization has been recognized for its dedication to patient safety through innovative digital advancements.
Building on last year’s Silver Star award, Amana Healthcare has demonstrated outstanding leadership in enhancing safety metrics, adopting advanced technology applications, and ensuring robust data security and patient privacy.
These efforts have positioned the organization as a leader in digital safety initiatives within the healthcare sector.
The award was presented to Dr. Jason Gray, Chief Executive Officer of Amana Healthcare, during the Arab Hospitals Federation’s Silver Jubilee celebration.
The event, held under the esteemed patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Cabinet Member and Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, celebrated advancements in healthcare across the region.
One of Amana Healthcare’s notable achievements has been the reduction of antibiotic use. For instance, the prevalence of carbapenem-resistant organisms like E. coli has dropped significantly, from 31% in previous years to just 19% in 2024.
Additionally, total antibiotic consumption has declined from 130 days per 1,000 patient days to 90 days.
A major factor in these improvements is the implementation of a digitally enabled Antimicrobial Stewardship Program powered by “Power BI,” a business intelligence tool that provides real-time insights into antimicrobial resistance.
This program supports clinicians with evidence-based, visual tools that enhance decision-making, leading to a threefold increase in clinician consultations.
Dr. Gray emphasized Amana Healthcare’s commitment to patient-centric care through advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, to deliver precise and preventive treatments.
Reflecting on the organization’s achievements, he noted that last year’s recognition inspired further innovation in combating antimicrobial resistance, a growing global health challenge.
Amana Healthcare plans to enhance its digital tools, such as integrating predictive analytics into the Power BI dashboard for early infection control interventions.
Caregivers will also receive ongoing training to maximize the program’s impact, ensuring both patient safety and operational efficiency.
With the potential for nationwide implementation, Amana Healthcare remains dedicated to leveraging cutting-edge technology to improve clinical outcomes while adhering to stringent federal law and international security standards to protect patient data.
