UAE — Amana Healthcare, a leading provider of specialized long-term care in the Middle East, has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering top-quality care by receiving the Joint Commission International (JCI) certification for the third consecutive year.
JCI, a respected independent not-for-profit organization, assesses healthcare providers against rigorous global standards to recognize excellence in patient care and quality.
Following a comprehensive five-day evaluation by an official JCI surveyor, Amana Healthcare demonstrated its dedication to upholding the highest international standards in patient care at its long-term care facilities.
Amana Healthcare first attained JCI accreditation in 2014, an accolade granted to multiple of its facilities.
These include the Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation & Long-Term Care Facility for Adults, Weaning Unit at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, and Long-Term Care Unit for Adults at Healthpoint Hospital.
Additionally, the Long-Term Care Pediatrics Unit at Danat Al Emarat Hospital, Long-Term Care Facility for Adults in Al Ain, and Long-Term Care Facility for Women & Children in Al Ain are among the facilities that have also achieved JCI accreditation.
Dr. Jason Gray, Acting Executive Director of Amana Healthcare, emphasized the institution’s unwavering commitment to providing exceptional long-term care and maintaining its position as one of the most reputable long-term care providers in the nation.
He stated, “Receiving the JCI accreditation once again is a source of great encouragement, reaffirming our commitment to the ongoing improvement of our practices.”
To ensure that patients benefit from a conducive environment for cognitive and physical recovery, Dr. Gray confirmed that Amana Healthcare would continue implementing best practices, conducting monthly audits to ensure JCI standards compliance, and collaborating with teams to swiftly adopt action plans when required.
Monthly reports on audit results and suggested action plans will be submitted to the Clinical Governance Committee to maintain the highest standards of patient care.
In addition to highlighting the institution’s commitment to patient care, the accreditation also acknowledges Amana Healthcare’s efforts to enhance risk management and mitigate adverse events by implementing International Patient Safety Goals (IPSG).
In the context of the broader healthcare landscape, home care, also known as domiciliary care, social care, or in-home care, plays a vital role in delivering medical treatment by licensed healthcare professionals in patients’ homes.
The United Arab Emirates is poised for significant growth in the Inpatient Care market, with revenue expected to reach US$5.90 billion by 2023 and a steady annual growth rate (CAGR 2023-2028) of 3.77%, resulting in a market volume of US$7.10 billion by 2028, according to Statista.
Notably, the United States is anticipated to generate the highest revenue in this market segment, projected at US$707.50 billion in 2023.
This robust growth in the UAE can be attributed to the nation’s expanding population and high living standards, leading to increased demand for private inpatient care services.
Other than the JCI accreditation, Amana Healthcare’s commitment to sustainability was recognized with two Gold Initiative Certificates from the Arab Hospitals Federation’s Arab Healthcare Climate Change Challenge Champion in January.
The categories in which Amana Healthcare excelled are Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, as well as Water, Waste, and Resource Management.
Dr. Jason Gray, Senior Director of Clinical Operations at Amana Healthcare, expressed pride in the awards, highlighting the institution’s aim to reduce its carbon footprint by 15 percent within the next two years as part of its Go Green initiative.
He emphasized their vision of providing high-quality, integrated continuum-of-care services with an environmental sustainability focus.
Furthermore, Amana Healthcare has undertaken microprojects to align with Environment Vision 2030, contributing to a sustainable healthcare sector.
These initiatives include reducing CO2 emissions and decreasing electricity consumption at Amana Healthcare Village, as well as adopting paperless tools to reduce paper consumption at the Weaning Unit in Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
These projects have transformed Amana Healthcare into an environmentally-friendly healthcare provider, exemplifying their commitment to climate-conscious care.
