American Hospital Dubai to launch Medical School with Mayo Clinic guidance

UAE — American Hospital Dubai, a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, has announced an enhanced collaboration with the world-renowned Mayo Clinic.

This strengthened partnership marks a significant step forward in advancing healthcare delivery, medical education, and research in Dubai and the wider region.

The announcement was made at Arab Health 2025, held at the World Trade Centre in Dubai from January 27-30, 2025.

The renewed relationship between American Hospital Dubai and Mayo Clinic reflects the shared goal of both institutions to revolutionize patient care, encourage innovation, and bolster Dubai’s standing as a global leader in healthcare.

This collaboration will focus on improving clinical practices, increasing operational efficiencies at American Hospital Dubai, and incorporating the latest technology to enhance the quality of care provided.

A key element of this partnership is the establishment of Dubai’s first Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) medical school, developed with guidance from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.

This groundbreaking initiative aims to shape the future of healthcare education in the region, setting new standards and fostering the next generation of healthcare leaders.

The curriculum will be based on global best practices, and the medical school will feature state-of-the-art facilities, faculty development programs, and immersive learning experiences.

American Hospital Dubai has been a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network since 2013, benefiting from Mayo Clinic’s expertise to improve clinical services and ensure top-tier patient care.

The deepening collaboration will build upon this foundation by introducing new projects such as a healthcare simulation center for advanced training, optimizing operational workflows, and expanding subspecialty services to address complex medical conditions.

The partnership will also support the development of a clinical research infrastructure at American Hospital Dubai.

With Mayo Clinic’s assistance, the hospital will optimize resources, integrate research with clinical operations, and create new treatment protocols that align with international standards.

These efforts are aimed at enhancing the hospital’s patient-first approach by streamlining processes, improving care coordination, and ultimately ensuring patients in Dubai and beyond have access to high-quality care without the need to travel abroad.

This collaboration aligns with the UAE’s long-term healthcare goals and strengthens Dubai’s position as a hub for medical tourism and healthcare excellence.

Sherif Beshara, Group CEO of American Hospital Dubai, expressed excitement about the deepened ties with Mayo Clinic, emphasizing that their partnership is committed to setting new benchmarks in patient care and education.

Jorge Pascual, M.D., Interim President of Mayo Clinic International, highlighted the importance of combining the expertise of both institutions to drive innovative solutions that enhance patient outcomes.

Biju Samkutty, Chief Operating Officer of Mayo Clinic International, added that the establishment of the new medical school exemplifies their shared commitment to excellence in healthcare education and clinical care.
