Apollo Cancer Centres, Accuray partner for advanced radiosurgery training

INDIA—Apollo Cancer Centres (ACC), in conjunction with Accuray, a leading producer of radiation therapy devices, has unveiled the Robotic & Stereotactic Radiosurgery programme, India Subcontinent’s first robotic and stereotactic therapy education centre.

This ground-breaking programme will be launched at ACC facilities in Chennai and Bangalore, with the goal of providing advanced radiosurgery educational training to radiation oncologists, physicists, radiation therapists, and technicians from India and the Indian Subcontinent.

Mr. Dinesh Madhavan, President of Group Oncology and International at Apollo Hospital Enterprises Ltd, emphasized the importance of this development, pointing out that groundbreaking cancer care technologies have paved the road for highly personalized and successful therapy.

Madhavan emphasized that Apollo Cancer Centres and Accuray’s Robotic Stereotactic Radiotherapy Programme will considerably improve training facilities in the ASEAN region.

This programme will provide oncologists, physicists, and therapists with the vital information and abilities required to take advantage of the most recent advances in CyberKnife technology.

Furthermore, Dr. Sridhar PS, Lead of CyberKnife – Robotic Radiosurgery, discussed the unique potential given by the training program’s introduction at Apollo Cancer Centre.

He stated that after pioneering the CyberKnife Robotic Radio Surgery System in India and gaining vast experience with over 5000 patients, the Apollo team is now well-positioned to impart their important knowledge through this training programme.

The undertaking will allow doctors to expand and improve their cancer care knowledge through specialized CyberKnife training.

In addition, Ms. Suzanne Winter, President and CEO of Accuray, shared her excitement about the CyberKnife S7 System’s extension to Apollo centres in Chennai and Bangalore.

She emphasized that this development demonstrates Accuray and Apollo Hospitals’ long-standing relationship aimed at improving cancer care in India.

Ms. Winter stated that the CyberKnife S7 System’s exceptional precision sets new therapeutic standards, empowering practitioners to improve patient outcomes.

The device delivers high doses of radiation in 1 to 5 sessions, allowing for quick and effective treatments and representing a substantial leap in cancer therapy.

The CyberKnife System is a non-invasive, robotic radiation therapy device designed to treat tumors with high precision while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue.

It utilizes advanced imaging and computerized robotics to deliver highly focused beams of radiation, allowing for the treatment of complex and hard-to-reach tumors.

With the establishment of a world-class comprehensive ‘Educational Center,’ the program aims to benefit aspiring CyberKnife clinicians from India and the Subcontinent.

By bringing such a high-caliber educational initiative to India, Apollo Cancer Centres continues to lead the way in medical innovation.

This dedication to enhancing the skills of healthcare professionals is expected to significantly improve patient outcomes across the country, further solidifying Apollo’s commitment to advancing cancer care.
