INDIA – Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata has completed the acquisition of a partially-constructed hospital from Future Oncology Hospital and Research Centre in a deal worth Rs 102 crores (US$12,280,300).

Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata is a subsidiary of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited. It is the only hospital in Eastern India to be accredited with Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation.

The acquisition of this partially-built hospital in Kolkata by the subsidiary of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited stands to expand its bed capacity and increase its international business.

In a company statement, Suneeta Reddy, Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals, stated: “At Apollo Hospitals, our mission is to bring the best healthcare to all. The addition of this new facility is part of our planned capacity expansion across India, thereby enabling us to serve even more people in the region.”

It is worth highlighting that shares of Apollo Hospitals are trading in the green following the landmark investments in Future Oncology Hospital and Research Centre.

Through an assets purchase process, Apollo Hospitals now owns new property comprising 1.4 acres of land with a partially constructed hospital building with a built-up area of over 175,000 square feet ft and medical equipment in Sonarpur, Kolkata.

It is anticipated that the hospital situated in Kolkata, which is owned by Future Oncology Hospital and Research Centre, will possess a comprehensive bed capacity of 325 beds.

The first phase of the hospital will have 225 beds, which is built over 175,000 square feet, and is expected to be commissioned in the next 12 months.

The acquired hospital has not yet commenced operations. Nonetheless, the acquisition is being fully funded by Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata through its own internal accruals,” outlined Suneeta Reddy.

With the recent acquisition deal, Apollo Hospitals will increase the bed capacity of its hospital with an additional 325 beds upon completion of the hospital construction project.

The acquisition of new beds and medical equipment aims to strengthen the Group’s hallmark levels of care to more customers in the eastern region of the country.

It will upgrade its service capability to provide comprehensive healthcare across all broad and high-end medical specialities, including comprehensive oncology service with radiotherapy.

The acquisition of the partially-built hospital marks the Group’s second acquisition in Kolkata in line with an ambitious plan to expand in key regions through brownfield and greenfield projects.

It takes the Group’s total hospital bed capacity to over 1,800 across Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, and Guwahati in the easternmost region of India.

As part of its ambition growth strategy, Apollo Hospitals is poised to incorporate approximately 700 new beds within the upcoming three years, thereby augmenting the overall bed capacity of Apollo in East India to 2500 beds.

The new assets will complement the clinical offering in its flagship hospital in the city – Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata.

The 700-bed multispecialty tertiary care hospital is a perfect blend of technological excellence, complete infrastructure, competent care, and heartfelt hospitality.

It is the only hospital to receive NABL certification in six separate categories namely Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Pathology, Haematology & Immunohaematology, Microbiology & Serology, Histopathology and Cytopathology.

In a new bold move, Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata launched a comprehensive connected 5G Ambulance to transform access to healthcare and save lives in emergency situations.
