INDIA- Apollo Proton Cancer Centre (APCC), the first and only Proton Therapy Centre in South Asia and the Middle East, has signed an agreement with Ion Beam Applications (IBA), to offer proton therapy training and education for clinicians in Asia and across the globe.

Through this collaboration, Apollo Proton Cancer Centre will educate professionals on proton treatment through its advanced training and education program.

Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd (AHEL) has been a long-time client of IBA, having bought a Proteus®PLUS[1] proton therapy system in 2013 and used it successfully for more than three years to treat cancer patients.

Since AHEL began operating at Apollo Proton Cancer Centers (APCC) for proton treatment, it has developed great proficiency and experience in treating a variety of tumor types.

With Apollo Proton Cancer Centre becoming Asia’s first and exclusive Proton Beam Training Institute in association with IBA, it will provide access to clinicians throughout the world and also be a pivotal contributor to research in Oncology and Proton therapy

Olivier Legrain, Chief Executive Officer at IBA stated that in recent years, Apollo Hospitals has demonstrated its knowledge and zeal by successfully hosting training symposia for the community of local and worldwide proton therapy professionals.

She added that they are excited to work with Apollo to offer customers and prospects in Asia top-notch training and education without having to send them across the world.

The founding and chairman of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd, Dr. Prathap C Reddy, said that Apollo Cancer Centres (ACC) were established about thirty years ago in response to the urgent demand for high-quality cancer care as well as the rising incidence of cancer cases in India.

He highlighted that since that time, ACC has consistently brought the best and most cutting-edge cancer treatments to India; the most recent of these was the introduction of proton therapy.

He emphasized that in keeping with its resolute mission to raise the bar in cancer care for all in need, in association with IBA, the Apollo Proton Cancer Centre will be the first of its kind training and education program reference center in Asia.
