INDIA – Apollo Proton Cancer Centre has expanded its medical capacity with the launch of the new state-of-the-art Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at its healthcare facility in Chennai.

Apollo Proton Cancer Centre opened a new paediatric care unit to provide the highest quality of care to patients and families in India and beyond.

In a press release, APCC said: “The new Paediatric Intensive Care Unit will be led by a dedicated team of clinicians and specialists from various fields.”

APCC’s new Paediatric Intensive Care Unit is fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, cutting-edge technology, and a multidisciplinary team that possesses extensive knowledge and expertise in their respective areas.

Moreover, Apollo Proton Cancer Centre has introduced in-house Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training program for nurses and paramedics.

Its new PALS training program will benefit nurses, in-house paramedics, and health professionals working at the neighborhood clinics to empower them to handle any paediatric emergencies.

The Centre’s expansion underpins the commitment of Apollo Proton Cancer Centre to provide comprehensive and exceptional paediatric cancer care.

The PICU has advanced life-support technology, monitoring equipment, and is staffed by a team of specialised healthcare professionals from different departments around the clock.

The PICU is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, including a Level 3 Paediatric ICU with Multipara monitors that are designed to provide several information on one screen,” stated APCC.

The launch of the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at APCC was officiated by the Minister for Social Welfare and Women Empowerment under the Government of Tamil Nadu, Tmt. P. Geetha Jeevan.

It is another prime example of Tamil Nadu’s longstanding leadership in India’s medical infrastructure and healthcare delivery.

What’s more, the unit was inaugurated in the presence of Mr. Harshad Reddy, Director of Operations for Group Oncology & International at Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd, and Dr. Ramya Uppuluri, Consultant Pediatric Haemato-Oncologist at Apollo Cancer Centre.

Dr. Shruthi Kakarala, Consultant Intensivist, Pediatric Oncologist at Apollo Cancer Centre, Dr. Srinivas Chilukuri, Senior Consultant, Radiation Oncology (Paediatric), and Dr. Arvind Sukumaran, Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon, were also present at the solemn ceremony.

With the launch of the new unit, the Apollo Proton Cancer Centre has broadened its scope by incorporating this state-of-the-art facility for paediatric intensive care for cancer treatment.
