LEBANON – Aster Volunteers Mobile Medical Services (AVMMS), the global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) branch of Aster DM Healthcare, has deployed its state-of-the-art mobile medical unit to Lebanon.

Aster Volunteers has joined forces with the Big Heart Foundation (TBHF) and the University of St. Joseph (SJU) in the United Arab Emirates to provide healthcare services to underserved communities in the country.

Moreover, Aster DM Healthcare is going to launch six new medical units in different states of India, and across Qatar, Bangladesh, and Zanzibar through its CSR initiative.

It is part of AVMMS’s goal of delivering medical and healthcare services directly to disadvantaged individuals residing in remote regions with limited or no access to medical facilities.

With strategic support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon, the ultramodern mobile medical unit is expected to arrive in Lebanon by mid-June 2023.

It is equipped with all the necessary resources to offer basic diagnostic and medical tests, as well as consultations and first-aid treatment.

Leveraging technology, Aster’s medical unit has a built-in advanced Tele-Health System to extend the reach of healthcare services beyond physical boundaries.

This scalable telehealth solution will allow patients in remote areas to connect with healthcare professionals via video consultations.

In essence, the people of Bekaa Valley, which is home to tens of thousands of Syrian refugees, will have convenient access to specialty care in times of need.

The medical unit was flagged off from the Medcare Multi-Specialty Hospital in Al Safa in Dubai in the presence of Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman and Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare.

Ms. Mariam Al Hammadi, the Director of The Big Heart Foundation, and Mr. Elie Yared, the President of the University of St. Joseph were also present at the event.

As a part of this CSR Mission, the portable facility will provide electricity for day-to-day operations during camps and outreach programs.

This advanced clinic is designed in accord with the region’s climatical conditions and integrated with solar panels on its roof, according to Aster Volunteers.

In her address, Dr. Azad Moopen said: “We laud Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of TBHF and UNHCR Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children, for her kindness towards communities and the continuing partnership with Aster in our global CSR Missions.”

She outlined that the mobile medical unit, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, is anticipated to meet the requirements of the basic healthcare needs of the people of Lebanon.

Commenting on the latest collaborative project, Ms. Mariam Al Hammadi, underscored that the newly launched mobile clinic represents more than just a vehicle equipped with medical facilities, noting that it is a symbol of hope, resilience, and compassion.

This initiative marks a tangible embodiment of our unwavering dedication to improving the lives of individuals and families in underserved areas,” stated Ms. Al Hammadi.

She pointed out that at the core of TBHF’s partnership with Aster Volunteers lies their shared vision of creating a world where everyone has access to quality healthcare.

Together, we have witnessed the transformative power of mobilizing medical services and delivering care directly to those who are often overlooked,” said Ms. Al Hammadi.

In another development, Aster DM Healthcare and Faruk Medical City, a subsidiary of Faruk Investment Group, linked up to offer academic and professional training programs for clinical staff and healthcare professionals in Iraq.

Faruk Investment Group and Aster DM Healthcare also agreed to explore opportunities for collaboration targeted at increasing Aster Pharmacy’s services in Iraq.
