UAE— Aster Hospitals UAE, a part of Aster DM Healthcare, has become the first hospital chain in the country to receive accreditation from the Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC) for the hospital sector.

This significant recognition, awarded on World Patient Safety Day, acknowledges five of Aster’s key facilities: Aster Hospital – Al Mankhool, Aster Cedars Hospital – Jebel Ali, Aster Hospital – Al Qusais, Aster Hospital – Muhaisnah, and Aster Day Surgery Center – Al Mankhool.

The accreditation was officially presented by Ms. Amina Ahmed Mohammed, CEO of EIAC, during a ceremony that also saw the attendance of Dr. Marwan Al Mulla, CEO of the Health Regulation Sector at the Dubai Health Authority.

Being internationally recognized by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua), the EIAC accreditation is a strong testament to Aster Hospitals’ unwavering commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery and patient safety.

Established in 2015 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, the EIAC serves as the governmental accreditation body responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality and credibility across various sectors, including healthcare.

The rigorous accreditation process Aster Hospitals underwent involved a detailed evaluation of multiple key criteria, such as Ethical Conduct, Structure and Governance, Resources, Health Safety and Risk, Healthcare Services, and Continuous Evaluation and Improvement.

Aster’s achievement of this prestigious accreditation highlights its dedication to enhancing healthcare services and implementing robust patient safety protocols across its facilities.

By securing this honour, Aster Hospitals UAE has elevated its standing in the healthcare landscape of the UAE, positioning itself as a leader in setting new benchmarks for quality care and patient safety in the region.

Speaking on the recognition, Ms. Alisha Moopen, Managing Director & Group CEO of Aster DM Healthcare, expressed her pride in the accomplishment, stating that receiving the EIAC accreditation is a testament to Aster’s commitment to delivering world-class healthcare services while adhering to the highest patient safety standards.

She further emphasized that this recognition aligns with Aster’s vision to make high-quality healthcare accessible and to ensure the well-being of every individual who seeks care at their facilities.

Additionally, Ms. Moopen noted the significance of receiving this honor on World Patient Safety Day, underscoring the hospital chain’s focus on prioritizing patient safety, which is at the heart of healthcare.

Echoing these sentiments, Dr. Sherbaz Bichu, CEO of Aster Hospitals and Clinics for the UAE, Oman, and Bahrain, described the accreditation as a major milestone for both Aster and the UAE healthcare sector.

He stressed that the stringent standards met during the accreditation process reflect Aster’s continuous efforts to raise the bar for healthcare services.

Dr. Bichu also pointed out that this achievement validates the hard work and dedication of Aster’s teams in maintaining patient safety and clinical excellence at all levels of care.

The EIAC accreditation covers Aster’s key facilities in Dubai, which now stand out for their adherence to internationally recognized standards of quality and safety.

This accomplishment, coupled with previous accolades such as accreditation under Canadian Accreditation Standards and recognition through the Newsweek World’s Best Hospitals Awards, further solidifies Aster’s position as a healthcare provider that prioritizes excellence in patient care.

With the EIAC accreditation in place, patients can now have even greater confidence in receiving top-tier medical care in Aster’s facilities, which are committed to ongoing improvements in both safety and service standards.
