Aster Volunteers expands access to healthcare with IoT-enhanced mobile clinics

INDIA—Aster Volunteers, the global CSR arm of Aster DM Healthcare, has introduced two new IoT-enabled mobile medical clinics equipped with telemedicine services to provide free healthcare to underserved communities.

These units will serve Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, and Kalaburagi, Karnataka, bringing the total number of Aster Volunteers’ mobile clinics to 50.

This launch comes shortly after Aster Volunteers unveiled three additional Mobile Medical Service units in Dubai at the Medcare Royal Specialty Hospital, Al Qusais.

The units were inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, in the presence of key Aster DM Healthcare leaders, including Managing Director and Group CEO Ms. Alisha Moopen, Director Mr. Anoop Moopen, and Executive Director Mr. T.J. Wilson.

Adding to the initiative’s momentum, Prabal Pratap Singh Tomar, Vice President of the Indian Lawn Tennis Association, has pledged his support to help the program reach rural areas nationwide.

These custom-designed mobile clinics, built on Ashok Leyland’s 7-meter chassis, are equipped with advanced features.

They include telemedicine facilities, a mini laboratory, a consultation room for specialist and super-specialist virtual consultations, and a health education system with a large TV.

Other amenities, such as a patient waiting area, a shaded outdoor awning, and refrigerated storage for medicines, enhance the clinics’ functionality.

Importantly, the clinics are air-conditioned, Wi-Fi-enabled, and capable of navigating remote areas, ensuring they can reach even the most isolated communities.

The initiative is a part of Aster DM Healthcare’s long-standing commitment to bridging healthcare gaps.

Over the past 12 years, Aster Volunteers has established a network of mobile clinics in India, the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, benefitting over 5.6 million people.

Currently, 31 clinics operate in various Indian states, including Kerala, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir, with plans to expand to Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.

Additionally, mobile clinics are deployed in GCC countries like the UAE and Oman, and in African nations such as Tanzania and Ethiopia.

Speaking at the launch, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar praised the initiative as a significant step toward improving healthcare for underserved populations.

Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, emphasized the organization’s commitment to leveraging technology and sustainable practices to bring accessible healthcare to marginalized communities.

With plans to add 10 more units in 2025, Aster Volunteers continues its mission to make healthcare affordable and accessible, transforming lives and building stronger communities worldwide.
