UAE – Ms. Alisha Moopen, Managing Director and Group CEO of Aster DM Healthcare GCC, has been honored with the prestigious “Pravasi Bhushan” Award by Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose, the Honourable Governor of West Bengal, India.
The award ceremony took place at Aster Medcity in Kochi, India, and was a significant moment in recognizing Ms. Moopen’s exceptional leadership and dedication to advancing healthcare globally.
The “Pravasi Bhushan” Award is one of the highest recognitions for individuals who have made remarkable contributions to society, and in Ms. Moopen’s case, it highlights her unwavering commitment to improving healthcare accessibility and quality for millions of people.
The award was presented in the presence of several distinguished guests, including MP Shri Hibi Eden, Mr. Anoop Moopen (Non-Executive Director of Aster DM Healthcare), along with senior leaders and doctors from Aster.
Since joining Aster DM Healthcare in 2013, Ms. Moopen has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s strategy and expanding its presence in new markets.
Under her leadership, Aster has become one of the largest healthcare providers in the GCC, offering a full range of services from primary to quaternary care.
Today, Aster operates 16 hospitals, 121 clinics, and 306 pharmacies across the region, employing over 14,500 people, including 1,806 doctors and 3,826 nurses.
In India, Aster has a strong presence, with 19 hospitals, 13 clinics, and 212 pharmacies, as well as 232 labs and patient experience centers spanning five states.
Aster’s ability to deliver world-class healthcare services across the GCC and India is a testament to Ms. Moopen’s leadership and the company’s ongoing commitment to high-quality care.
Ms. Moopen holds a distinguished background in finance, having completed her chartered accountancy from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) and worked as a Chartered Accountant at Ernst & Young before joining Aster.
She is also a graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and holds a degree in Global Leadership & Public Policy Change from Harvard University.
In her acceptance speech, Ms. Moopen expressed deep gratitude for receiving the Pravasi Bhushan Award, dedicating the recognition to her team’s relentless commitment to patient care and innovation.
She also acknowledged the vision and hard work of her father, Dr. Azad Moopen, Aster’s founder, who turned a single clinic into a global healthcare organization in just three decades.
“His journey inspires us every day to strive for excellence and make quality healthcare accessible to all. I am honored by this acknowledgment and will continue to carry forward his legacy,” Ms. Moopen said.
