The Bengaluru Global Hub is dedicated to advancing AstraZeneca’s ambitious goal of delivering 20 new medicines by 2030.
INDIA—Global biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has expanded its state-of-the-art Global Hub in Bengaluru with an investment of Rs 166 crore (US$20 million), creating 400 new jobs.
This new facility will accommodate nearly 1,300 employees and aims to enhance the company’s capabilities in AI-powered healthcare innovation across Research and Development (R&D), global business services, Information Technology (IT), and digital health operations.
This expansion marks AstraZeneca’s second major investment in India within a year, following the Rs 250 crore (US$30 million) expansion of its Global Innovation and Technology Centre in Chennai.
Together, these two southern hubs will employ close to 4,000 people, significantly strengthening AstraZeneca India Pvt Ltd’s ability to develop and deliver life-changing medicines globally.

Jackie Crockford, Vice President of Global Business Services at AstraZeneca, emphasized that this strategic investment will support automated, scalable, data-driven, and patient-centric solutions.
He also highlighted the company’s commitment to leveraging Karnataka’s world-class talent and ecosystem to drive the next generation of scientific innovation.
Moreover, the new facility will serve as a dynamic center for advanced clinical research, supporting AstraZeneca’s global therapeutic areas.
It will focus on developing AI-powered healthcare solutions and centralizing data analytics to improve clinical trial efficiency and patient outcomes.
Magnus Nord, Vice President of Global Patient Safety BioPharma, noted that the hub connects AstraZeneca with India’s exceptional scientific and technological expertise, accelerating the development of innovative medicines that benefit patients worldwide.
In line with AstraZeneca’s dedication to environmental sustainability, the Bengaluru Global Hub is designed to achieve LEED Platinum certification.
The facility currently runs on 75% green energy and incorporates features such as wastewater recycling and Internet-of-Things (IoT) enabled systems for optimized energy management.
