AUBMC’s Pathology Department receives reaccreditation from CAP

LEBANON—The Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) has reaccredited the American University of Beirut Medical Center’s (AUBMC) Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

According to Zawya, this recognition comes after a recent on-site assessment as part of CAP’s Accreditation Programs.

CAP accreditation is widely acclaimed for its stringent and comprehensive requirements that improve quality and reduce risk in laboratory environments.

 This reaccreditation highlights AUBMC laboratories and departments’ commitment to continuing patient care improvement and healthcare delivery excellence.

In particular, the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at AUBMC is one of over 8,000 facilities worldwide recognized by CAP.

AUBMC originally acquired this renowned accreditation in 2004 and has been reaccredited every two years since.

Dr. Zaatari, the department’s chair, expressed his joy at gaining recognition from one of the world’s major accreditation authorities.
