Burjeel Holdings and Northwell Health to jointly build an advanced neuroscience institute in Abu Dhabi

UAE – Burjeel Holdings and New York-based Northwell Health have formed a strategic partnership to set up a highly advanced Neuroscience Institute in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The agreement will combine Burjeel Holdings’ state-of-the-art facilities with Northwell’s best-in-class clinical care and expertise to deliver world-class patient care to the communities of Abu Dhabi.

Located at Burjeel Medical City, the largest medical care facility of Burjeel Holdings, the institute is set to deliver advanced, innovative, and compassionate neurological care to people living in the UAE, the entire Middle East, and beyond.

The institute, named Dr. Najjar Neuroscience Institute, is a multidisciplinary effort to provide state-of-the-art care for adult and pediatric patients with neurological disorders.

The institute has the potential to develop new and novel ways to treat autoimmune brain disorders, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders, pediatric neurology, and multiple sclerosis

Commenting on this joint effort, John Sunil, Chief Executive Officer of Burjeel Holdings, said: “The partnership marks an important step in Burjeel Holdings’ commitment to delivering unmatched healthcare excellence in the region and greatly improving patient outcomes.”

It comes as part of Burjeel Holdings’ ongoing efforts to bring highly complex, specialized, and personalized services to domestic and international patients.

In similar developments, Burjeel Holdings recently unveiled its groundbreaking Advanced Gynaecology Institute housed within Burjeel Medical City.

Dr. Najjar Neuroscience Institute will be leveraging Burjeel Medical City’s state-of-the-art medical technology and an international team of experts certified by top global medical boards to offer the best possible patient care.

As part of Burjeel’s network of healthcare providers, the institute will also boost the Group’s reputation as a leader in complex care in the UAE and globally.

The soon-to-be-launched Neuroscience Institute will be headed by world-renowned Neurologist Dr. Souhel Najjar, who is internationally recognized for his clinical, research, and teaching expertise.

Currently, Dr. Souhel Najjar is the Chair of Neurology at Lenox Hill Hospital and Staten Island University Hospital and the Chair and Professor of Neurology at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine.

The new facility has been named after Dr. Souhel Najjar, immortalizing the legacy of the neurology specialist who was featured in the best-selling novel and Netflix film “Brain on Fire”.

This initiative is a clear reflection of Dr. Najjar’s unyielding commitment to excellence in clinical care across the health system in Abu Dhabi and beyond.

It will bolster Northwell Health’s Neurology Service Line’s position as a regional and international destination for neurological care.

Burjeel Holdings and Northwell Health formalized the establishment of the ‘Dr. Najjar Neuroscience Institute’ at a ceremony held in New York at the Northwell Health corporate headquarters in Manhattan.

The collaboration with Northwell Health and Dr. Najjar aligns with the Group’s endeavors to provide complex care and access to the newest treatments and technologies for patients across the Middle East,” stated John Sunil.

Moreover, the collaboration aligns with the two companies’ shared goal of improving patient outcomes and driving innovation in healthcare.
