Burjeel Holdings secures landmark accreditation from NIHS

UAE—Burjeel Holdings, a leading Private Healthcare Group in the UAE, has reached a significant milestone with the attainment of institutional accreditation from the National Institute for Health Specialties (NIHS).

This prestigious accreditation program marks a first for any private entity in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, underscoring Burjeel’s commitment to excellence in healthcare standards.

The accreditation was formally bestowed during a ceremony attended by key dignitaries, including Dr. Mohammed Al-Houqani, Secretary-General of NIHS, and Dr. Rashed Obaid Alsuwaidi, Executive Director of Healthcare Workforce Planning Sector, Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, alongside senior officials from Burjeel Holdings.

Dr. Al-Houqani highlighted the achievement’s significance, noting its alignment with the UAE’s vision to elevate medical education, training, and healthcare qualifications to the highest international standards.

John Sunil, CEO of Burjeel Holdings, expressed pride in the accreditation, emphasizing its transformative impact on their ability to offer top-tier medical education programs.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious accreditation,” he remarked, “which will enable us to deliver specialized medical education of the highest caliber.”

He noted that this achievement is integral to Burjeel’s overarching mission of enhancing the UAE’s healthcare landscape through the cultivation of a highly skilled local workforce.

Under the accreditation, six institutions within the Burjeel Holdings umbrella, including Burjeel Medical City, Burjeel Hospital Abu Dhabi, Al Dhannah Hospital, Medeor 24/7 Hospital, Burjeel Royal Hospital in Al Ain, and Burjeel Royal Hospital in Asharej, have been accredited as teaching hospitals.

Looking ahead, Burjeel Holdings plans to introduce a range of residency and fellowship programs across various medical specialties and specialized nursing programs.

These initiatives will be developed in collaboration with regulatory authorities in the Emirate, further cementing Burjeel’s role in advancing healthcare education and training in the region.
