SAUDI ARABIA – American company iHerb, which retails nutritional and healthcare products, has expanded its operations with a new facility in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This collaboration comes as the California-based company iHerb hired Miriee Chang as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO) as of April 2023.
Mrs. Chang’s appointment is part of iHerb’s larger effort to enhance its operational structure and further align resources to support its global growth opportunities best.
The e-commerce platform, iHerb.com, provides customers with a localized experience that makes it quick and simple for people all over the globe to shop for the finest wellness products at the very best prices.
iHerb also introduced a new wellness quiz to make it even simpler for customers to find the right products following its new line-up of supplements and self-care items.
With backing from the E-Commerce Council, iHerb has tied up with Korea’s world leader in logistics solutions CJ Logistics to cement its presence in the Gulf market.
The President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation Abdulaziz Al-Duailej handed over an operational license to CJ Logistics to practice its commercial activities in Saudi Arabia.
The handover ceremony saw the attendance of the Saudi Minister of Commerce and the President of the E-Commerce Council, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi.
Park Joon-yong, the South Korean ambassador to Saudi Arabia, the Chief Executive Officer of CJ Logistics, Kang Sin-Ho, and the Chief Operating Officer of iHerb, Miriee Chang, were present at the official event.
On his part, Saudi Commerce Minister Al-Qasabi asserted: “The access of international companies to do business in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is part of the growing interest in the promising opportunities available under the Saudi Vision 2030.”
Al-Qasabi underscored that Saudi officials are committed to the development of the e-commerce business system and its important role in the country’s economy.
“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the top ten most developed countries in the field of e-commerce globally,” the Saudi Minister added.
Under the latest deal, iHerb and CJ Logistics will take advantage of their collective market power and opportunities in the attractive business environment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
These firms have signed an eight-year agreement to distribute the former’s healthcare and wellness products in the Gulf Cooperation Countries.
Moreover, the strategic alliance seeks to meet the growing demand for health and care products among GCC consumers.
The deal aligns with iHerb’s mission to offer its customers Earth’s best selection of health and wellness products at the best possible value, delivered with the most convenient experience.
Under the 8-yr contract, CJ Logistics will provide GCC consumers with iHerb’s products through its global distribution centre (GDC) which specializes in e-commerce services.
The new Operational Hub, situated in the city of Riyadh, will act as an operations hub for the Greater Middle East and North Africa region.
Located in Riyadh’s Integrated Logistics Bonded Zone, the hub will be established with the latest technology on an area of 18,000 square meters.
The regional site is anticipated to have a daily production capacity of nearly 15,000 shipments to link the geographical range of the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
iHerb provides supplements, natural health products, vitamins, herbs, bathing and beauty products, grocery, kids accessories, and sports goods.
