Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi hosts first annual nursing conference

UAE — Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, part of the M42 group, has launched its first Annual Nursing Conference, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the “Mother of the UAE” and a key figure in the nation’s healthcare and women’s development initiatives.

As Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, H.H. Sheikha Fatima’s support highlights the importance of nursing excellence in the UAE’s healthcare ecosystem.

The conference, themed “Advancing Nursing Excellence,” brings together nursing professionals from around the world to discuss the latest innovations in patient care and nursing practices.

 It reflects Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s commitment to elevating nursing as a core pillar of healthcare.

Over the two-day event, attendees will have the opportunity to expand their skills, earn American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) contact hours, and connect with experts in the field.

The conference aims to promote professional development by providing a platform for diverse nursing professionals—including registered nurses, nurse practitioners, midwives, and clinical specialists—to engage in meaningful discussions on complex patient care, leadership, ethical considerations, and technological advancements in healthcare.

 Local and international speakers will present insights on modern nursing practices, inspiring nurses to continue learning and adapting in an ever-evolving healthcare landscape.

H.E. Hasan Jasem Al Nowais, Chairman of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, expressed his honor in hosting the event under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, noting the significant role that nursing practices play in improving healthcare.

He emphasized the importance of bringing stakeholders together to address challenges and explore opportunities for innovation in patient care.

Dr. George Haber, CEO of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, highlighted the critical role nurses play in healthcare, stating that they are the backbone of the system.

He reiterated Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s commitment to empowering nurses through leadership, education, and mentorship, with the ultimate goal of improving patient care.

Beth Govero, Chief Nursing Officer at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of continuous learning for nurses as they face new challenges daily.

She emphasized that the conference aims to equip nurses with global best practices that will directly impact patient outcomes.

By bringing together nursing leaders and innovators, Govero hopes to inspire and unite the nursing community in the UAE and beyond.

The conference features seminars and panel discussions led by distinguished international and regional experts, including Meredith Foxx, Executive Chief Nursing Officer at Cleveland Clinic Health System in Ohio, and Nancy Albert, Associate Chief Nursing Officer for Nursing Research and Innovation at Cleveland Clinic.

Regional speakers include John Tote, Executive Director for Inpatient & Emergency Services at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, and Zeina Kassem, Nursing Director for Oncology and Transplant Programs at the clinic.

In addition, the event will feature Dr. Fatima Al Rifai, Board Member of the International Council of Nurses, and Dr. Lisa Pratt, Director at Fatima College of Health Sciences, UAE.

With a focus on innovation and complex care, the conference offers an inspiring environment for professional growth and knowledge exchange, solidifying the essential role nurses play in shaping healthcare outcomes in the UAE and beyond.
