
UAE—Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, part of the M42 group, has once again been named the UAE’s top health research hospital by the National Center for Health Research (NCHR) under the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP).
This marks the second consecutive year the hospital has received this prestigious accolade, recognizing its pioneering contributions to medical research, education, and innovation.
This honour highlights Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s leadership role in advancing healthcare in the region.
The hospital provides a wide range of educational programs, including residency and fellowship opportunities, undergraduate training for health professionals, and Continuing Medical Education (CME).
It is also the first hospital in the UAE to achieve accreditation from both the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education International (ACGMEI) and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).
These achievements highlight its dedication to fostering research excellence and medical education.
Dr. Sawsan Abdel-Razig, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s chief academic officer, expressed pride in the team’s hard work and dedication.
“Being recognized as the top-rated research hospital for the second year in a row reflects our commitment to improving healthcare standards,” she said.
Dr. Abdel-Razig emphasized the hospital’s focus on researching health conditions prevalent in the region to develop innovative treatments and elevate patient care.
In 2023, the hospital launched 60 new research studies, bringing the total number of active projects to 212.
It also introduced an enhanced Research Student Program, designed to equip participants with advanced research skills, and delivered the Fundamentals of Clinical Research course for the third year running.
Its key initiatives are genome-based studies targeting liver health, breast health, and obesity, aimed at improving care for the Emirati population through personalized treatments.
The NCHR plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare research across the UAE, recognizing outstanding contributions through its Institutional Research Excellence Awards.
These efforts have significantly boosted research performance and productivity nationwide.
Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s ongoing achievements also extend to specialized medical fields, including stroke care, adult cardiac surgery, and antimicrobial stewardship.
Its commitment to innovation has earned it recognition as a Center of Excellence in multiple disciplines.
Dr. Abdel-Razig noted that their dedication to research, education, and personalised care remains unwavering as they continue to push the boundaries of world-class healthcare for the UAE and beyond.
