UAE – The Fatima bint Mubarak Center at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi has introduced its cutting-edge and state-of-the-art technologies for the treatment of cancers in the United Arab Emirates.
Ethos adaptive radiotherapy is a cancer treatment technology leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, marking a pivotal role in bringing world-class cancer care to the UAE.
“Ethos allows the radiotherapy medical team to adapt a patient’s treatment plan in real-time, based on daily changes in the patient’s anatomy,” the Fatima bint Mubarak Center said in an official note.
Additionally, the Fatima bint Mubarak Center has started offering radioembolization, TARE-Y90 therapy, a minimally invasive targeted therapy utilizing radioactive particles to destroy cancer cells in the liver.
“The procedure involves injecting tiny beads, known as microspheres, into the blood vessels that supply the tumor in the liver with blood,” the center stated.
The UAE-based facility explained that these microspheres emit radiation targeting the tumor cells in the human body while sparing healthy liver tissue.
“Radioembolization is a safe and effective treatment option for select patients with liver cancer, offering them an improved quality of life and prolonged survival,” outlined the Fatima bint Mubarak Center.
Other innovative treatment options include Edge radiosurgery to target cancerous cells, and brachytherapy or internal radiation for the application of high local doses of radiation to specific areas of the body.
The Fatima bint Mubarak Center will focus on sophisticated screening and diagnostic testing, advanced radiation treatments, and precision cellular therapies.
The 19,000-square-meter oncology center has a multidisciplinary oncology team to provide dedicated care within the cancer care sphere.
This oncology team with a wide array of skills and specialized knowledge guarantees a patient-centric approach to developing treatment plans based on the individual’s history and condition.
The Fatima bint Mubarak Center at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi aims to serve as the benchmark for cancer care by providing patients with comprehensive access to world-class care close to home.
The center has introduced an AI-aided medical procedure to significantly reduce the adaptive treatment time (sessions are approximately 25 to 30 minutes in duration).
Moreover, this Ethos adaptive radiotherapy will help doctors to reduce patients’ exposure to radiation in comparison to traditional treatment options.
The cancer treatment technology will elevate the quality of healthcare screening, diagnostics, and treatment of specific cancer forms such as pelvic, abdominal, bladder, and prostate cancers.
The Fatima bint Mubarak Center is also home to the chemotherapy robot, which leverages an automated compounding process, to ensure caregiver and patient safety and prepares patient-specific hazardous doses with ease and accuracy.
Moreover, this technology optimization strategy aligns with the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s vision and mission to provide compassionate, complex care and be the best place to receive care.
