UK—CMR Surgical, a British medical device firm based in Cambridge, has appointed Shlomi Cohen as chief financial officer (CFO),  succeeding Anna Wasyl.

Wasyl, on the other hand, will begin her new role as CMR’s chief commercial partnerships and operations officer, working closely with the Chief Commercial Officer Massimiliano Colella.

This appointment comes as Versius, the manufacturer of the robot-assisted surgery system, expands its operations.

Before joining CMR Surgical, Shlomi had served as the chief finance and operations officer at Lumenis, a medical device developer focused on the cosmetic and vision sectors, for seven years.

He is credited with increasing sales and profitability, while the company’s equity worth doubled.

He has also served as Chief Financial Officer at Formula Systems, a software technology startup.

Shlomi is a graduate of the General Management Program at Harvard Business School, a graduate of the London Business School, and a Chartered Accountant.

While welcome him, CMR CEO Supratim Bose stated that Shlomi will be a significant asset to the team as they continue their rapid global investment in bringing Versius to more clients worldwide.

“His deep knowledge of the medical devices industry, and high growth businesses is a perfect fit for us. Shlomi will be hugely valuable to the team as we continue our rapid global scale up, “ he elaborated .

Shlomi, for his part, stated that Versius is an extremely unique tool and that he was thrilled to be a part of the team that will help to accelerate CMR’s growth and help the company realize its aim of improving surgery for the better.

He went on to say that CMR is a widely recognized global business in the medical devices industry, and that the Company operates in a rapidly expanding sector of the MedTech market; He looked forward to assisting the Company in capitalizing on this potential.

In September, CMR announced that the company had secured an additional US$165 million in funding to expand the soft tissue system into new geographies, develop in existing markets, and continue its product innovation initiatives.

CMR Surgical has more than 160 Versius surgical robotic systems on the market, with over 20,000 surgical procedures conducted.
