Cohsasa rebrands to mark 30 years of healthcare quality improvement in Africa

SOUTH AFRICA — Cohsasa, an internationally recognized accreditation body for healthcare facilities across Sub-Saharan Africa, has unveiled a fresh new look as it celebrates its 30th anniversary.

The rebranding marks a shift from the continent’s previously conservative image to a more modern and vibrant identity inspired by its rich cultural heritage.

Jacqui Stewart, CEO of Cohsasa, expressed her excitement about the new branding, highlighting how it reflects the organisation’s mission and its ongoing commitment to strengthening healthcare systems across Africa.

She emphasized that the rebranding process, which has been in the works for months, involved a strategic design collaboration with a marketing consultant to ensure the new look represents Cohsasa’s values and vision.

The rebranding also coincides with Cohsasa’s milestone of having worked in 14 African countries and partnered with over 600 healthcare facilities, all aimed at improving healthcare quality.

The updated logo at the center of this transformation embodies the organization’s core values of unity, collaboration, and excellence in healthcare.

Stewart explained that the new logo was carefully designed with inspiration from traditional African mandala patterns, symbolizing harmony and interconnectedness within healthcare systems.

The circular shape of the mandala represents how various healthcare services work together seamlessly to improve patient care.

Inside the mandala, elements such as the medical cross and the star of excellence are woven into the design to highlight Cohsasa’s dedication to quality healthcare.

Moreover, the mandala signifies “transformation into joy,” reflecting the positive change Cohsasa strives to bring to healthcare systems across Africa.

It represents hope, healing, and the promise of a brighter future for communities throughout the continent.

Along with the rebranding, Cohsasa has adopted more contemporary language in its communications, replacing the outdated term “mission” with a clearer purpose: “To create a safe healthcare journey for every patient in Africa.”

This change reflects their continued commitment to improving healthcare, one institution at a time.

The organization’s new tagline, “Leading the movement for better healthcare in Africa,” captures this forward-thinking approach.

Cohsasa has also introduced a new set of values, encapsulated in the acronym ICARES, which stands for Integrity, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Sustainability.

These values will guide the organization as it continues its important work in ensuring that safe, high-quality healthcare is accessible to all.
