UAE – The Dubai Academic Health Corporation (DAHC) has partnered with Lunit and Agfa HealthCare to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) tools at radiology departments of DAHC hospitals to enhance breast cancer care.

Under the agreement, DAHC plans to modernize its breast cancer diagnostic and screening program with Agfa HealthCare’s RUBEE for AI framework and Lunit’s INSIGHT MMG algorithm.

It will build on DAHC’s efforts to support all medical institutions in Dubai and strengthen the competitiveness of medical services in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

DAHC became the first hospital to implement the Agfa HealthCare Enterprise Imaging platform, which is an integrated imaging system based on Lunit Insight MMG.

The strategic deal follows the integration of Lunit’s application into Agfa HealthCare’s RUBEE for AI framework after the two company’s partnership agreement in 2021.

The two companies worked closely to develop an AI image analysis package solution that can be installed in Agfa HealthCare products dubbed the Breast AI Analysis package.

The joint statement said: “The Breast AI Analysis Package is a workflow-centric, evidence-based AI package part of Agfa’s RUBEE for AI framework, embedded in Agfa HealthCare’s Enterprise Imaging solution.”

The solution, powered by Lunit INSIGHT MMG, will help to improve radiologists’ screening and diagnostic workflow by providing advanced visualizations, workflow orchestration, cancer risk-based triage benefits, dedicated reading protocols, and report notifications.

Lunit INSIGHT MMG is an AI image analysis solution with high speed and 96% accuracy used by clinicians to detect suspicious lesions in mammography images.

Radiologists will use the AI solution to analyze mammography images and deliver cost-effective, quality diagnostic services, thereby helping early detection of breast cancer.

The solution will also enhance how they distinguish suspected tumor areas by providing the location of the lesion with an abnormality score reflecting the AI’s confidence level.

Moreover, Lunit is in advanced talks with Agfa Healthcare to increase data-based diagnosis expertise for radiologists and provide customized treatment according to accurate diagnosis across the Middle East.

Lunit has expanded its footprint in the UAE and Middle Eastern markets through partnerships with Roche, Microsoft Azure, and the Abu Dhabi Health Service Company (SEHA).
