UAE – The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has kicked off the DoH Innovation Week 2023 at its headquarters located at Building 35 Kanadel St, Al Rawda, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

DoH Innovation Week 2023 is being held from 20th February to 24th February at the Department’s headquarters to bring together diverse groups of people across the Abu Dhabi healthcare ecosystem.

This year’s event features captivating activities and applications of innovation within the healthcare sector, including start-ups such as DentalID, AirQ, Housecall, DarDoc, and Exsurgo, alongside the Abu Dhabi Life Sciences Hub in the Metaverse.

The captivating activities include “Park to Innovate”, the “Innovation Café”, the “Gamification Corner”, and the “Innovation Sprint”.

Innovation Week 2023 will also include a series of panel discussions and workshops that tap into the different areas of innovation, such as supporting entrepreneurs in a panel titled “Lessons from a Physician Turned Entrepreneur”, and “Turning Research into Innovation”.

In addition, the event will be an ideal opportunity for participants to pitch their ideas on design thinking, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the National Innovation Strategy.

The five-day event will be held in conjunction with the UAE Innovation Month 2023 to celebrate innovation and innovators across the country.

These efforts align with the objectives of the national strategies for innovation and advanced innovation and the UAE’s transition to a knowledge-based, competitive economy.

DoH Innovation Week 2023 will play a significant role in attracting overseas experts, thereby reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading destination for innovation in healthcare and life sciences.

At DoH, we realise the importance of applying innovative solutions and creative spirits in the healthcare workforce to enhance the sector’s outputs and the quality and sustainability of its services,” said H.E. Dr. Jamal Mohammad Al Kaabi, Undersecretary of the Department of Health.

Dr. Al Kaabi outlined that the annual event aims to accelerate innovation across all levels and industries.

He observed that innovation fuels growth and development in all sectors, including success in public entities, the private sector, and among members of the UAE community.

As the Emirate’s healthcare regulator, we are working closely with local and international partners to develop and integrate breakthrough solutions in Abu Dhabi,” stated Dr. Al Kaabi.

He outlined that Abu Dhabi has become a beacon of innovation, combining leading companies, start-ups, and entrepreneurs from all over the world.

The DoH Undersecretary underscored that the capital of the United Arab Emirates provides a safe and nurturing environment for entrepreneurs to expand their scope of work and their innovations

This comes in line with Abu Dhabi’s effort to find solutions for current and future healthcare challenges while enhancing the health of members of our community and across the globe,” added Dr. Al Kaabi.
