UAE – Dubai Dental Hospital (DDH) has been ranked as a unified healthcare center by Special Olympics UAE, a global organization that serves athletes with intellectual disabilities.

Dubai Dental Hospital is the only dental entity in the Emirate of Dubai to receive recognition as a unified healthcare center by Special Olympics UAE.

The certification will serve as inspiration for the DDH team to continue their dedicated service as a specialized oral care provider for people of determination.

This recognition from Special Olympics UAE is a clear reflection of the dental hospital’s dedication to providing exceptional oral and dental care services to people of determination.

Commenting on the significant milestone, Dr. Khawla Humaid Belhoul, Senior Director of Dubai Dental Hospital said: “The recognition is closely aligned with upholding “Patient First,” the primary value of the Dubai Academic Health Corporation (DAHC), Dubai’s first integrated academic health system.”

It is the latest honor to the DDH team delivering evidence-based care with a strong emphasis on the safety, well-being, and unique healthcare requirements of their young patients.

The team understands the importance of providing a comfortable and supportive environment, ensuring the best possible experience for young patients and their families.

Expressing her excitement about the recognition from the Special Olympics UAE, Dr. Khawla Humaid Belhoul stated: “We are very grateful for the acknowledgment of our effort, allowing us to continue making a positive impact in the lives of people of determination.”

The specialized services offered by the DDH team encompass a wide range of treatments, including conscious sedation and treatment under general anesthesia, enabling the hospital to perform complete oral rehabilitation for people of determination.

In his address, Dr. Anas Al Salami, Consultant of Pediatric Dentistry at DDH, noted: “Our team of experts is well-equipped to handle the unique challenges of caring for people of determination. With all staff certified in Basic Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support, they prioritize the safety and well-being of young patients above all else.”

The DDH team not only provides in-house care but also strives to support families in maintaining oral hygiene at home, providing valuable advice and helping them overcome any obstacles they may face.

The recognition comes as part of the Special Olympics UAE’s efforts to collaborate and build partnerships with various institutions in the UAE to promote social inclusion.

Since its inception in 1990, Special Olympics UAE has served athletes with intellectual disabilities through sports competitions and inclusive community programs.

The main mission of the organization is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Special Olympics UAE forges strategic partnerships to build an inclusive healthcare structure to empower people of determination with intellectual and developmental disabilities with the best healthcare services and the most equitable lifestyle.

The athletes with intellectual disabilities have successfully competed in Special Olympics Regional and World Games, proudly representing the United Arab Emirates over the years.
