UAE – The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has launched its nationwide awareness campaign to educate residents on the importance of early detection of preventable diseases.

The awareness campaign follows World Immunisation Week 2023, which emphasizes the need for joint and integrated efforts to promote the use of vaccines and safeguard individuals of all ages from vaccine-preventable diseases.

This year’s annual event focused on the importance of vaccination, the increasing demand for immunisation services, and the importance of completing vaccines and doses prescribed in the National Immunisation Programme.

According to the Dubai Health Authority, the ongoing disease awareness campaign will feature three stages with different medical specializations.

The first phase involves a highly-experienced medical team of the Dubai Health Authority conducting preliminary checks on workers for diabetes, blood pressure, and cholesterol alongside eye, oral, and dental exams.

The project draws the UAE workers’ attention to disease risk factors, how to prevent severe illnesses and reduce their risks, and maintain the health and safety of the community members.

This national initiative’s ultimate goal is to enhance the health of workers and promote a culture of preventive health knowledge to benefit the participating professionals and their families.

The Dubai Health Authority has provided medical and technical support for the initiative to be successful to the fullest extent, and achieve the desired goals according to the specified timetable.

As the strategic health authority for the Emirate of Dubai, the DHA will contract a group of doctors and nurses to conduct medical examinations on health workers of different ages and job categories.

These medical examinations will allow workers to identify their health conditions, and take appropriate procedures to optimize their well-being and improve their quality of life.

They will be empowered to take follow-up examinations and treatments in the case of discovering any symptoms or chances of contracting diseases to avoid their negative complications.

DHA has a proven track record of supporting similar health programs and campaigns focused on the prevention and early detection of diseases.

With support from participating organizations, this nationwide disease awareness campaign aligns with DHA’s efforts and contributes towards achieving its vision of a healthier and happier society.

The awareness campaign targets 900 workers in more than 100 distinguished companies that won the Taqdeer Award in its last cycle.

Taqdeer Award is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council.

The ongoing national campaign will further contribute to the Taqdeer Award’s goals to spread health awareness among health workers in the emirate.

The national awareness campaign will formally come to a close on May 17th, 2023 at an official event held at the headquarters of the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs in Dubai.

In turn, this project is expected to pave the way for the adoption of prevention and early detection approaches to preserve patients’ health and safety in Dubai and the UAE.

Co-led by Taqdeer Award and Dubai Health Authority, the ongoing public awareness campaign seeks to build momentum for scaling-up prevention of vaccine-preventable diseases.
