Dubai Islamic Bank pledges US$4M to Al Jalila Foundation for cancer hospital development

UAE—Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) has pledged a generous contribution of AED 15 million (US$4.08 million) to the Al Jalila Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dubai Health in the UAE.

This substantial donation will play a pivotal role in supporting the development of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, Dubai’s first comprehensive cancer care facility.

The hospital is set to revolutionise cancer treatment and solidify the bank’s ongoing commitment to the community’s well-being and advancing healthcare infrastructure.

DIB’s financial backing will help establish an integrated model of cancer care at the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, which is scheduled to open in 2026.

This facility will not only provide primary healthcare services but will also offer advanced cancer treatments.

By adopting a comprehensive approach to cancer care, the hospital aims to promote earlier detection and timely intervention—which are critical in improving patient outcomes.

The Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital will house a multidisciplinary team of experts, including specialized cancer nurses, who will deliver a full range of services under one roof.

From initial diagnosis to ongoing treatment and supportive care, patients will have access to all the necessary resources in a single, state-of-the-art facility.

Furthermore, select treatments and services will also be available for delivery in patients’ homes, ensuring convenience and continuity of care for those undergoing treatment.

DIB’s contribution is closely aligned with Dubai Health’s overarching mission to improve patient outcomes through a unified, integrated model of care.

Dubai Health has been  making strides toward addressing the region’s growing demand for comprehensive cancer treatment services by establishing this world-class cancer hospital.

Nawaf Al Rayssi, Head of Community Support Services at Dubai Islamic Bank, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating that this cutting-edge facility is poised to set a new benchmark for cancer care in the UAE and across the region.

He highlighted the significance of providing hope and advanced treatment options to countless individuals affected by cancer, while reaffirming DIB’s dedication to supporting the nation’s transformation in healthcare.

Adding to this sentiment, Dr. Amer Al Zarooni, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation, emphasized that DIB’s contribution empowers Dubai Health to lead a transformation in cancer care.

He reiterated that patient well-being remains at the heart of all initiatives, and the partnership with DIB brings them closer to realizing their vision of an integrated healthcare facility that will significantly improve the community’s overall health.
