EGYPT—The Ministry of Health and Population has announced that it has completed 16 key projects under the General Authority for Health Insurance (GAHI), which aimed to improve healthcare infrastructure.
These projects, completed in 2024, are part of a larger effort to enhance the efficiency and capacity of medical facilities nationwide, ensuring better healthcare services for Egyptian citizens.
Significant upgrades were made to various hospitals and clinics among the completed projects. For instance, the open heart unit at Gamal Abdel Nasser Hospital was renovated, while Benha Hospital received improvements to increase its overall efficiency.
Other important upgrades include the completion of the Suez Clinics Building and Basion Clinic, as well as an expansion of the Ahmed Orabi Clinic in Kafr El-Zayat.
Meanwhile, the Children’s Hospital of Egypt underwent maintenance and operational enhancements to provide better care for young patients.
Additionally, the intensive care and operating wing at Al-Nasr Hospital in Helwan was significantly upgraded, strengthening its capability to handle more critical cases.
These upgrades reflect the Ministry’s commitment to modernizing Egypt’s healthcare system.
According to Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the Ministry of Health’s official spokesperson, the improvements are aligned with the broader strategic plan to enhance healthcare services for all citizens.
Another key aspect of this modernization is the enhancement of digital infrastructure within the healthcare system.
Ahmed Mustafa, Chairperson of GAHI, revealed that the electronic reservation system has been upgraded and is now functioning in 250 clinics across 19 branches, managing over 10 million reservations.
Additionally, the automated decision-making system has been improved to generate 16 million decisions, while the non-benefit letters system has been fully automated, issuing more than 1.4 million letters to date.
These efforts aim to streamline healthcare services, making them more accessible and efficient for the public.
Mustafa emphasized the Authority’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare services, with a strong focus on integrated care to ensure that every citizen receives the best possible treatment.
