EGYPT – Egyptian patient-centered pharmacy benefits platform Chefaa has secured undisclosed funds in a funding round led by Newtown Partners, Global Brain and GMS Capital Partners.
Chefaa will use the funds to assist the introduction of its Chefaa Prime product which is a comprehensive medical insurance alternative targeted for emerging economies, officially launch in additional markets and expand its network.
The startup will also digitize chronic illness management through a comprehensive way to build significant progress in chronic patients to enhance the quality of life.
The female-led healthtech was founded in 2017 by Rasha Rady and Doaa Aref to provide an end-to-end healthcare experience.
The platform helps patients to order, schedule and have medicine delivered from the nearest pharmacy according to GPS location with the easiest user trip.
It is one of the Middle East and North Africa’s largest pharmaceutical and wellness platforms that focuses on providing customers with compliant, moral and patient-centric services mainly through its primary platform and application.
The healthtech has customized AI-driven solutions like Chefaa Prime which is a subscription-based service providing a smooth array of assistance to patients as well as medical users from all walks of life and income brackets.
The new funding comes at a time when the North African country is facing major challenges in the health sector post-Covid-19 pandemic.
“We are focusing on empowering Chefaa’s ability to measure the impact of every step it takes with real data, not just for funding but for execution and scaling as well,” said Doaa Aref, CEO and Founder of Chefaa.
Chefaa has helped tens of thousands of chronic patients across Egypt to properly manage their treatment by enabling them to easily order their medicines on a regular basis.
Recently, the startup launched its private and white-label products and introduced its B2B service to serve Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
It is merging e-commerce with the pharmaceutical industry and positioning itself to lead the digital transformation of the pharmaceutical industry in Egypt.
In addition, Chefaa’s approach of growth is an opportunity to enhance medical literacy through free premium service and employee benefits.
It is an example of Egyptian healthcare firms that are using AI, virtual reality and mobile apps to improve health services as well as establish Egypt as a regional leader in the field.
It also addresses severe national health problems like a shortage of providing optimum care for chronic patients.
