Egypt’s pharmaceutical company MultiCare inks distribution pact with Swiss firm Acino

EGYPT – Cairo-based MultiCare Egypt for Pharmaceutical Industries has entered into a multi-year exclusive marketing and distribution agreement with Swiss firm Acino.

The signing ceremony was presided over by Dr. Andrew Bird, General Manager for Middle East, Turkey & Africa at Acino, Ahmed Serag, Acino’s Egypt Country Manager, and Ossama Anter Abo Arab, Chairman of MultiCare.

MultiCare will be responsible for the commercialization activities of Acino’s wide range of innovative products in new, effective treatments across Egypt as part of the provisions of this new marketing and distribution pact.

Acino will leverage its high-quality pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities and network to supply quality pharmaceuticals, and in turn, promote affordable healthcare services across Egypt.

Speaking on this deal, Ossama Anter Abo Arab, Chairman of MultiCare, stated: “MultiCare has taken the next important step on our mission to become a trusted regional partner in the healthcare sector.”

The Egyptian pharmaceutical company will distribute various potential future treatments across various disease areas such as diabetes and hypercholesterolemia, along with existing therapeutic options for gastroenterology.

As we join forces with Acino, we are reminded of the millions of people across our nation who look to healthcare professionals to help them improve their quality of life. It is for them that we engage in such partnerships and increase access to some of the key treatments in Egypt,” said Ossama Anter Abo Arab.

MultiCare’s core business spans the manufacturing and marketing of pharmaceutical products and medical devices.

The company will leverage its market strengths alliances and operations in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, India, and New Zealand to enhance patient services across Egypt and the wider Middle East region.

Under this strategic partnership, MultiCare and Acino will be in a better position to improve patient access to effective and safe medicines across Egypt, North African countries, and the Middle East.

The collaboration aligns with the two companies’ shared mission of expanding access to high-quality essential medicines for patients and healthcare providers in Egypt.

This strategic deal was signed in the presence of senior Acino leaders who reiterated the company’s efforts to leverage strategic opportunities in the Egyptian pharmaceutical market.

It comes as Acino expanded its market presence in the Middle East after completing its acquisition of Abu Dhabi’s ADQ-owned Pharmax Pharmaceuticals.

In November 2022, Acino joined forces with the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population and the ROEYA Training Centre to conduct training for a group of 300 young healthcare professionals on the latest gastrointestinal endoscopy techniques.

Commenting on the new strategic alliance, Dr. Andrew Bird underscored: “Acino is committed to advancing the development of healthcare across Egypt and the wider Middle Eastern region by accelerating access to high-quality medicines that patients and governments can rely on.”

The marketing and distribution agreement with MultiCare will build on Acino’s strategic plan to increase value to the Egyptian healthcare sector as it is undergoing a rapid transformation.

It is part of the Swiss company’s continuous efforts to support the implementation of its extensive growth and expansion strategies across the North African country.

Through our partnership with MultiCare, we will contribute to Egypt’s enhancements of patient services, medical standards, and treatment outcomes,” said Andrew Bird.

Through the new distribution pact, Acino will deepen its presence in Egypt, bolstering its position as a regional export hub and reinforcing the country’s local manufacturing strategy.

This collaboration is a vital step as part of our efforts to continue to expand in the wider Middle East region and remain patient oriented across the entire value chain,” stated Dr. Bird.
