UAE – Saqr Hospital, an affiliate of Emirates Health Services (EHS), has set up a new Children’s Haematology Clinic at its facility based in Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates.

The launch event was officiated by the Dr. Sally Al-Naeem, Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Consultant at Saqr Hospital, Dr. Mona Al-Ayyan, Director of Saqr Hospital, and Dr. Essam Al Zarouni, Acting Executive Director of the Medical Services Sector at EHS.

As part of EHS’ commitment to providing top-quality, specialised healthcare services, the modern facility will receive cases of referral from various health centres and clinics affiliated with EHS.

Saqr Hospital’s new unit will provide outpatient and inpatient care for children of all ages with hereditary and non-hereditary blood diseases, such as bleeding disorders and coagulation disorders.

These medical conditions include anaemia, thalassemia, sickle cell anaemia, G6PD Deficiency, and haemophilia, among other coagulation disorders.

On her part, Dr. Mona Al-Ayyan, Director of Saqr Hospital, said: “Opening the Children’s Haematology Clinic forms part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen the health services system provided at the hospital to all patients, and particularly, to children.

Additionally, the new Clinic will screen for genetic diseases in newborns and administer tests and treatment for dietary anaemia caused by iron, folic acid, and B12 deficiency.

The facility will also offer medical testing and treatment for common pediatric hematologic disorders, including idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, neutropenia, and leukaemia.

Moreover, the launch of the Children’s Haematology Clinic at Saqr Hospital will contribute significantly towards achieving the objectives of the UAE’s National Strategy for Wellbeing.

This move aligns with EHS’ goals and strategy to develop comprehensive and integrated health and treatment services that meet the highest medical standards and best practices.

In his address, Dr. Essam Al Zarouni, Acting Executive Director of the Medical Services Sector at EHS, stated: “Emirates Health Services continues to offer its full support for all of its affiliated health facilities in an effort to achieve its ambitious goals.”

He underscored that the EHS’s strategy focuses on developing a system that offers sustainable, integrated, and innovative health services, accessible to all members of the UAE community.

Dr. Al Zarouni further said that EHS aims to provide distinguished healthcare services that adhere to the ‘We the UAE 2031’ national vision, adding that it will pave the way for achieving the goals of the “UAE Centennial 2071 Plan”.

In addition, the new Haematology Clinic at Saqr Hospital will improve children’s access to specialty care, and ultimately, help to strengthen EHS’s competitiveness at the local and international levels
