Eli Lilly to open New Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad, India

INDIA – American pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly and Company has announced plans to establish a new Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad, marking its second such facility in India.

The company aims to strengthen its digital strategy and service delivery by employing over 1,000 highly skilled professionals at the new centre.

The Lilly Capability Centre India (LCCI) in Hyderabad is expected to be operational by mid-2025, with recruitment for the new site already underway.

Eli Lilly’s first GCC was opened in Bengaluru in 2016, and the Hyderabad facility will build on its success.

Although the company has not disclosed specific investment details for the Hyderabad centre, a spokesperson suggested the investment would be significant.

The new GCC will initially focus on expanding Eli Lilly’s capabilities in areas such as automation, artificial intelligence (AI), software product engineering, and cloud computing.

This will enable the company to develop advanced technology solutions to meet the evolving needs of its business globally.

A company spokesperson highlighted that the centre would help improve service delivery capabilities across Eli Lilly’s worldwide operations.

Manish Arora, Managing Director of Lilly Capability Centre India (LCCI) Hyderabad, shared his excitement about the project.

He noted that the centre would enhance Eli Lilly’s technical capabilities and help meet growing business demands by leveraging technology in its operations.

He also emphasized the company’s strategy of investing in growth markets, with Hyderabad being an ideal location due to its strong infrastructure, access to talent, and a thriving ecosystem.

Sridhar Babu, the state’s IT and Industries Minister, said the investment reflects Hyderabad’s growing reputation as a hub for healthcare innovation and talent.

The new centre is expected to employ between 1,000 and 1,500 professionals, including technology engineers and data scientists.

With recruitment already in progress, Eli Lilly is poised to significantly contribute to the local economy and further expand its presence in India.
