UAE – Emirates Health Services (EHS) and Mohammed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) have signed a collaborative agreement to promote scientific research and innovation.
The signing ceremony was presided over by Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal, Director-General of EHS, and Sultan Al Hajji, Vice President of Public Affairs and Alumni Relations at MBZUAI.
To tackle healthcare challenges facing the Middle East, EHS and MBZUAI have agreed to strengthen areas of cooperation and knowledge sharing in line with their common goals and strategies.
“MBZUAI will share its research insights and expertise with EHS to increase the shared understanding around issues including health, environment, and safety while enhancing EHS’ digital skills,” Sultan Al Hajji, MBZUAI Vice President of Public Affairs and Alumni Relations, said in a press release.
The strategic alliance aims to develop human capital, promote skills-based health education and advance efforts in the fields of scientific research and innovation.
As part of this deal, Emirates Health Services and MBZUAI will co-develop a shared framework to strengthen collaboration opportunities and share expertise and resources.
“EHS and MBZUAI will develop innovative AI-based approaches to transform areas of healthcare, including administration, training, and broader issues of health and safety,” stated Sultan Al Hajji.
The common framework will serve as a guide to enhance the skills of healthcare professionals across administrative and technical disciplines and accelerate research related to the environment, health, and safety.
Furthermore, the framework agreement will drive initiatives in developing necessary tools, enhancing the efficiency and capabilities of medical professionals, and contributing to the overall well-being of the UAE population.
The agreement will also pave the way for the provision of research opportunities and sponsoring of EHS employees to obtain master’s degrees and doctorates in relevant disciplines at MBZUAI.
In his address, Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal, Director-General of EHS asserted: “Enhancing the efficiency and capabilities of human resources is part of EHS’ endeavour to develop scientific knowledge related to data analytics and AI sciences.”
Al-Serkal underscored that the collaboration agreement aligns with EHS’s ongoing efforts to build strategic partnerships that lead to the development of human skills and strengthen the efficiency of the healthcare workforce.
“EHS focuses on signing agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) to enhance the work environment, achieve sustainable health development goals, and follow global best practices while making a substantial contribution to the development of the healthcare sector,” he noted.
The partnership with MBZUAI builds on EHS’s ambitious goal to play a part in meeting the government’s aspirations, enhancing the health sector’s efficiency, and advancing its local and global position.
