UAE – Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP) has released its new five-year strategy for cancer patient experience initiatives in the United Arab Emirates.
For the 2023-2027 period, the roadmap focuses on the strengthening of partnerships in the cancer care and advocacy network in the UAE and worldwide.
“The key earnings from FoCP’s 2022 strategy report have been filtered to sharpen the goals set within our five-year strategy from 2023-2027,” the non-profit said in an official note.
The document outlines a five-year plan to enhance and expand FoCP’s specialised work in cancer advocacy and research as well as patient care and community work.
Since its inception in 1999, the UAE-based civil society organisation continues with its leading efforts to raise cancer awareness and offer moral and financial support to patients and their families.
Present to witness and officiate the documentation launch was Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Founder and Royal Patron of FoCP.
The launch event was over by Her Excellency Sawsan Jaafar, Chairperson of FoCP, and attended by Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Vice Chairperson of FoCP.
In her address, HE Sawsan Jaafar said: “We continue to build on our 23-year history of achievements of strengthening thousands of people’s access to cancer awareness and treatment.”
Following FoCP’s significant achievements in 2022, the new organisational strategy will enable the non-profit to continue developing the efficiency of its various programmes and initiatives.
“In 2022 alone, we have provided financial support to more than 250 cancer patients, including 200 females, 34 males, and 16 children,” the Chairperson of FoCP.
The strategy will provide a comprehensive framework of governance to support the sustainability of quality initiatives by extending financial support and reinforcing charitable donation campaigns.
The document outlines a comprehensive plan to expand cancer awareness, boost revenues for cancer support, and bring immense benefits to beneficiaries over the next five years.
Moreover, the new roadmap has the ambition to increase collaborations on patient experience initiatives and improve standards in cancer care.
These initiatives will be customised to the targeted demographic needs by taking into account wider factors including psychological, social, and economic determinants.
“We are committed to continue expanding our work to reach a wider segment of society, industry stakeholders, and the younger generation,” HE Sawsan Jaafar reaffirmed to the UAE community.
The news follows the recent strategic deal between the Emirates Oncology Society (EOS), Friends of Cancer Patients, the Gulf Federation of Cancer Control, and Pfizer.
These UAE-based patient organizations and Pfizer teamed up to jointly host the ‘Uniting our Voices’ initiative to raise awareness and improve cancer patient care across the Gulf region.
Through the Pfizer-supported event, healthcare professionals, industry leaders, and patient association groups come together to discuss the importance of advancing health literacy amongst cancer patients.
