KENYA—FullCare (Kenya) Medical SEZ Ltd, the medical care and protective equipment manufacturer, has announced plans to build a production facility at Tatu City Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
FullCare’s investment will total more than US$100 million and supply clients in the United States, Europe, and Africa.
The first phase of FullCare’s facility will create 1,000 jobs and serve international customers in more than 70 countries since its clients already include well-known distributors of medical supplies.
The production facility at Tatu City SEZ is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
Mr. Wu Jianfei, Managing Director of Singapore-based FullCare said, “We are pleased to establish our first production facility on the African continent. Kenya represents a great base for international investment by Asian companies, and we are pleased to establish our first production facility on the African continent.”
Jinfei also added that for more than two decades, FinCare had pioneered production in Asia of the highest quality medical protection materials for human healthcare management.
David Karimi, Deputy Country Head of Rendeavour and the owner and developer of Tatu City said, “We are delighted to welcome FullCare, a major player in healthcare equipment production, to Tatu City Special Economic Zone.”
Karimi acknowledged that from its base in Tatu City, FullCare would make a significant contribution to the supply of high-quality medical materials to Africa and the rest of the world.
More than 75 companies are operational or under development in Tatu City’s business-friendly location, including Kenya Wine Agencies Limited, Dormans, Copia, Cooper K-Brands, Grit Real Estate Income Group, Twiga Foods, CCI Global, Freight Forwarders Solutions, Friendship Group and Davis & Shirtliff.
More than 3,000 homes and apartments are occupied or under construction at Unity Homes and the Kijani Ridge neighbourhood.
Tatu City is a flagship Vision 2030 private sector development and a Special Planning Area designated as a Project of Strategic National Importance pursuant to The Physical and Land Use Planning (Classification of Strategic and Inter-County Projects) Regulations, 2019.
Business benefits at Tatu City SEZ include VAT zero-rating, import, and stamp duty exemptions, and 10% corporate tax for the first 10 years, and 15% for 10 years thereafter.
The manufacturer of medical care and protective equipment, FullCare’s clients already include well-known distributors of medical supplies.

FullCare Singapore Managing Director Wu Jianfei noted that Kenya represents a great base for international investment by Asian companies.
Other healthcare facilities in Tatu City Special Economic Zone
Apart from FullCare, Crown Healthcare has made a commitment of US$40M to establish a pharmaceutical plant and Medical Devices manufacturing industry at Tatu City.
The Crown noted that the establishment of the new Crown manufacturing facility demonstrates its commitment to invest in the Kenyan healthcare infrastructure and to contribute to the long-term goals of improving healthcare in Kenya.
The plant will be spread over 10 acres of land with a built area of 400,000 Sq. Feet and it will also be an attractive workplace for local talent, employing more than 1000 highly qualified professionals.
In another development, Tatu City announced a partnership with Access Afya, a healthcare enterprise that delivers high-quality and localized healthcare for low-income markets.
Under the partnership, Access Afya will open a clinic to serve the community around the 5,000-acre new city.
Operating under the Curafa Medical Clinic franchise, the facility improves access to primary healthcare for the community by providing chronic care, family planning, lab testing, child immunizations and nutrition, pre-and post-natal care, general outpatient consultations, and first aid.
Moreover, the Mauritius-based Grit Real Estate Income Group Limited has announced plans to expand its Kenyan footprint via a hospital and data center projects whose construction will start later this year.
