UAE – The Gulf Medical University has officially launched its new College of Artificial Intelligence & Technology in Healthcare within its campus in the Emirate of Ajman, the United Arab Emirates.

The new Thumbay Institute will focus on leveraging the potential of Artificial Intelligence in medical education, which is poised to enhance the quality, efficiency, and accessibility of healthcare globally.

GMU’s College of AI & Technology in Healthcare will also explore unlocked opportunities in the application of emerging technologies, such as the metaverse, in clinical care and the field of medical education.

In an official note, the GMU said: “By offering specialized courses in the metaverse alongside AI, the institute aims to empower students to develop cutting-edge solutions that leverage the power of AI and the metaverse, revolutionizing healthcare practices in the process.”

The first-of-its-kind institute in the Middle East marks a significant step forward in the Gulf Medical University’s goal of integrating Artificial Intelligence in healthcare.

According to the Gulf Medical University, the College of Artificial Intelligence & Technology in Healthcare within its Ajman campus is anticipated to be fully operational by September 2023.

The Ajman-based institute will serve as a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration by forging opportunities for regional and international experts in health-related fields.

The institute will present a unique platform for experts in medicine, computer science, data analytics, and metaverse technology to converge under one roof.

Commenting on this expansion, Professor Hossam Hamdy, Chancellor of Gulf Medical University, said: “The innovative programs and courses designed by the Institute blend theoretical knowledge with hands-on training, empowering students to develop cutting-edge AI healthcare solutions.”

What’s more, GMU’s College of AI in Healthcare will work closely with higher education institutions around the world to equip the next generation of health professionals with comprehensive digital skill development programs.

This new college launched at the Gulf Medical University is expected to open new avenues for research, education, healthcare delivery, innovation, and technological advancements in the medical space.

On the research side, the Institute will undertake clinical studies to develop artificial intelligence-driven algorithms to accurately diagnose diseases, optimize treatment plans, and improve patient outcomes.

It will serve as a center of excellence, driving advancements in healthcare through innovative research and transformative education.

The Gulf Medical University aims to bridge the gap between healthcare and AI, empowering healthcare professionals to navigate the intricate landscape of artificial intelligence and data science.

The entire project was the brainchild of Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Thumbay Group, which owns the Gulf Medical University in Ajman.

In another development, Dr. Thumbay Moideen launched a new online medical education platform for healthcare professionals in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

Healthvarsity is an online learning portal designed to help professionals and learners progress in their careers and ultimately, positively impact their lives.

Leveraging AI and blockchain technology, Healthvarsity will offer multiple course styles, such as recorded webinars, guided tours, case studies, test preparation, demonstrations, and leaders’ insights.
