QATAR – The College of Health and Life Sciences (CHLS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) has formed an exclusive three-year research collaboration agreement with Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC).
Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s College of Health and Life Sciences embodies a multidisciplinary learning approach to research and discovery and aims to become a dedicated hub of knowledge sharing in the area of health and life sciences.
HBKU’s CHLS programs integrate scientific expertise by combining a seasoned collective of research partners within the university with esteemed external clinical and health science partners.
Over the next three years, HBKU’s CHLS and PHCC have agreed to engage in collaborative support and educational activities related to relevant graduate programs delivered by HBKU.
The collaboration framework between HBKU’s medical college and PHCC has great potential to advance their ongoing research in areas of mutual interest and benefit the objectives of both organizations.
Upon completion, the research finding and results of any particular research project will be jointly published by both parties in relevant academic journals and resources.
Reiterating PHCC’s vision in clinical research, Dr. Hanan Al Mujalli, Executive Director of the Clinical Affairs Directorate at PHCC stated: “PHCC is an organization that recognizes the importance of research and the enormous benefits it can bring in enhancing health and wellbeing. PHCC is embarking on an important journey towards genomics and precision medicine.”
The latest agreement provides a unique opportunity for researchers from PHCC and HBKU to collaborate on cutting-edge areas in precision medicine and key areas of healthcare and medical research.
It also facilitates the provision of equipment, facilities, personnel, and services necessary to perform research tasks subject to PHCC’s Institutional Review Board approval.
Through this collaboration with PHCC, Hamad Bin Khalifa University will advance its ability to provide essential educational and research training programs at the College of Health and Life Sciences.
“Our partnership will provide the students with greater academic opportunities and access to real-world experiences. Students will have a unique opportunity to enhance their skills and competencies to take up roles in primary care settings,” noted Dr. Hanan Al Mujalli.
This strategic collaboration builds on the significant progress made since the initial cooperation between PHCC and Hamad Bin Khalifa University.
Through this extension, HBKU’s CHLS and PHCC will explore exciting opportunities to conduct joint research activities that can positively impact the health and well-being of people in Qatar and beyond.
It is a clear reflection of HBKU’s commitment to building and cultivating human capacity through an enriching academic experience, innovative ecosystem, and unique partnerships.
HBKU delivers multidisciplinary undergraduate and graduate programs through its colleges and provides opportunities for research and scholarship through its institutes and centers.
Students enrolled in the College of Health and Life Sciences at HBKU regularly conduct research programs that emphasize the translation of research outcomes to address clinical challenges.
Hence, the recent agreement further reinforces the CHLS at HBKU’s efforts to address national and global health challenges and tackle emerging issues in the health landscape in Qatar.
It is in line with the strategic objectives of CHLS to educate the next generations of professionals in the fields of biomedical sciences, genomics, precision medicine, and exercise science.
Commenting on the agreement with PHCC, Dr. Georges Nemer, Interim Dean and Professor at HBKU’S CHLS, said: “The CHLS will strengthen PHCC’s mission to advance primary healthcare in Qatar by providing expertise, knowledge, and research insights spanning biomedical sciences, genomics, precision medicine, biopsychology/neuroscience, and exercise science.”
