UAE – The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has formally unveiled its Abu Dhabi Life Science Hub in the Metaverse to connect entrepreneurs, investors, and healthcare providers in a virtual setting.
A metaverse is an interconnected network of three-dimensional virtual worlds. It is sometimes referred to as a version of the internet that operates as a single, digital world made possible by the use of virtual and augmented reality headsets.
Abu Dhabi Life Science Hub is the virtual reality experience provided by DoH to recreate the emirate’s life science ecosystem in the metaverse and serve as an online platform where users can exchange knowledge and experiences.
Setting up DoH’s presence on the Metaverse will play a significant role in attracting overseas patients, thereby reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading destination for innovation in healthcare.
It supports the Department’s efforts in adopting the latest innovations to enhance healthcare outcomes across all levels and provide sustainable and future-proof solutions to multiple healthcare stakeholders.
In a press release, DoH stated: “The Hub will be home to the Department’s virtual headquarters in the Metaverse with aim of providing the entire Abu Dhabi healthcare ecosystem with a platform to create their own experiences in the hub in the following stages.”
DoH has teamed up with Next50, one of Abu Dhabi-based leading technology and industrial AI providers, to develop and deploy the platform using the best technologies in the Metaverse domain in line with its strategy to digitise healthcare services.
Upon the successful completion of the pilot project in the online digital universe, the full-fledged version of Abu Dhabi Life Science Hub will provide visitors with access to consultations and a wide array of healthcare services from the comfort of their homes.
DoH plans to host a demo day allowing investors and health start-ups to interconnect and pitch innovative solutions to potential capitalists during the ongoing Arab Health expo taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
“Through this platform, the experience will allow users to create their own avatars, interact with one another while manoeuvring the Department’s HQ to learn more about its services, projects, and initiatives,” the regulative body reaffirmed the users.
