SAUDI ARABIA – Impetus Grants has welcomed a pledge of US$5 million from Hevolution Foundation, a non-profit organization based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to support and accelerate research on aging.
Rosenkranz Foundation, founded by Robert Rosenkranz, an American philanthropist and a Board member of the Buck Institute, and an honorary Fellow of the Academy for Health and Lifespan Research, joined the round with a US$5 million contribution.
The additional US$5 million in grant funding from the Rosenkranz Foundation brings the total contribution to US$10 million.
In a press release, Hevolution Foundation said: “The initiative aims to contribute to the acceleration of scientific breakthroughs in the aging research space and to help extend the human health span.”
The allocated US$5 million in matched funding aims to support Impetus Grants, a non-profit science funding organization focused on longevity research, in revitalizing its efforts to advance aging science.
It aligns with the role of the Hevolution Foundation to provide grants and early-stage investments to incentivize research and entrepreneurship in health span science.
Hevolution Foundation is a global catalyst, partner, and convener, on a mission to drive efforts to extend a healthy human lifespan and understand the processes of aging.
With a focus on aging as a treatable process, Hevolution Foundation aims to increase the number of aging-related treatments on the market, compress the timeline of drug development, and increase accessibility to therapeutics that extend a healthy lifespan.
The Foundation seeks to support a cutting-edge, global ecosystem of talent to propel aging and geroscience research forward and achieve medical breakthroughs to help humanity live healthier, and longer.
The non-profit organization headquartered in Riyadh has an annual budget of up to US$1 billion to support its organizational objectives.
Consequently, the Hevolution Foundation pledge of US$5 million builds on a successful funding program announced in August 2022.
Speaking on the latest funding round, Dr. Mehmood Khan, CEO of Hevolution Foundation, said: “Following our matching funding for Impetus Grants last summer, we are pleased to partner with the organization once again.”
Since its founding in 2021, Impetus Grants has deployed more than US$24 million into scientific research projects, including aging-related clinical trials, biomarker research, and the development of novel tools and model organisms related to the aging process.
Hevolution Foundation has advised eligible recipients applying for funding under the new program to visit the Impetus Grants’ website in the beginning of August 2023.
These grant funding opportunities will help the Hevolution Foundation’s efforts to improve the human experience of aging and extend the human health span.
Commenting on the success of the new program, Dr. Mehmood Khan, Chief Executive Officer of Hevolution Foundation, stated: “We are confident that this program will help advance the boundaries of aging science and pave the way for transformative discoveries.”
What’s more, Hevolution Foundation is launching a new grants program called Hevolution Foundation – Geroscience Research Opportunities (HF-GRO).
HF-GRO will provide funding for pre-clinical research in aging biology and geroscience in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
According to Hevolution Foundation, the program has a budget of up to US$25 million for the remainder of 2023, and up to US$115 million over five years.
The grant funding opportunities come as part of the Riyadh-based organization’s moral vision that every person has the right to live a longer, healthier life.
To this end, Hevolution Foundation is gearing up to open hubs in North America and different locations around the globe.
