UAE – Hub71, Abu Dhabi’s global tech ecosystem, has selected two healthtech startups, Exsurgo and Ovasave, to join its first cohort of 2023.

Out of the fifteen startups joining this new cohort, Exsurgo, and Ovasave were picked based on their cutting-edge innovations in the health technology space.

Exsurgo delivers non-pharmaceutical treatments for neurological conditions using neuroscience and data analytics.

Comparably, Ovasave leverages innovative solutions to provide women with seamless access to fertility and egg-freezing services through a vetted network.

The founders of the two healthtech startups will benefit from generous incentives, programs, and access to investors, corporations, government entities, and academic institutions as part of Abu Dhabi’s tech ecosystem.

Through Hub71’s entrepreneurial infrastructure, value-add programs, enabling services, and support packages, they can build and scale widely adopted technologies with purpose and impact.

In an official statement, Ahmad Ali Alwan, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Hub71, said: “Our first cohort of 2023 is comprised of companies that have showcased a competitive edge in building differentiated tech platforms and products.”

Overall, Hub71 has picked fifteen startups at the forefront of innovation in different countries spread across the world.

The fifteen startups tapped for the next cohort include Cypherleak, Elmawkaa, Exsurgo, Fuze, Inovat, LivLyt, Mashvisor, MediJobs, Ovasave, Rabbit Mart, SubsBase, Synapse Analytics, The Editing, Qureos, and Zest Equity.

The latest cohort is anticipated to spark international and interdisciplinary collaboration with startups in various sectors such as HealthTech, FinTech, and EdTech.

For instance, MediJobs is a platform that enables highly skilled healthcare professionals to connect with an exclusive network of top-tier practices hiring in their area.

Each startup has undergone a rigorous selection process, having been selected based on their unique capabilities and potential to grow as a global tech company out of Abu Dhabi,” stated Ahmad Ali Alwan.

The fifteen startups will gain access to global markets, a capital ecosystem, a worldwide network of partners, and a vibrant community filled with highly skilled talent governed by forward-thinking regulation.

These companies originate from the United Arab Emirates, the United States, New Zealand, Egypt, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.

Moreover, Hub71 promises to support the growth and development of the selected fifteen tech startups at all stages as part of its ecosystem in Abu Dhabi.

Hub71 plans to extend its reach into specific technology subsectors by launching Hub71+ specialist ecosystems dedicated to unlocking the potential of technologies including BioTech.

The latest cohort comes after Hub71 joined forces with French drugmaker Sanofi to accelerate the development and commercialization of cutting-edge technologies in healthcare.

Hub71 also increased its community by 102 percent to more than 200 startups in 2022 with 51 new early-stage companies relocating to the UAE’s capital to scale exponentially.

It aligns with Hub71’s mission to introduce new minds and technologies to Abu Dhabi, finding new ways to build globally enduring technology companies and sustain the United Arab Emirates’ continuous economic development.

What’s more, Abu Dhabi is making waves as a globally relevant destination where tech entrepreneurs can access capital, a growing community, and a business-friendly environment.

By attracting and scaling startups with solutions that make a difference in people’s lives, we aim to make an impact on Abu Dhabi’s economy and society and continue bolstering its position as a leading global innovation hub,” outlined Ahmad Ali Alwan.

Building on Abu Dhabi’s strategic ambitions related to its digital economy, the addition of the latest cohort has increased the size of Hub71’s vibrant community to over 240 startups.

Hub71 received a substantial 70 percent increase in applications to join the startup community compared to the previous cohort.

Hub71 also reported a significant increase in high-quality early-stage startups choosing Abu Dhabi as a long-term base to expand their geographic reach.

For this reason, Hub71 is uniquely positioned to use its vibrant community to play a key part in reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s status as a global hub of innovation.
