AFRICA – The International Hospital Federation (IHF) and the Africa Healthcare Federation (AHF) have formed a collaboration to enhance the participation of African healthcare leaders in the IHF and other global hospital and healthcare initiatives.

The joint goal is to increase the participation of African healthcare leaders in international activities focused on knowledge exchange, good practice, and collaboration in healthcare delivery and hospital management.

Speaking from the IHF’s Secretariat office in Geneva, Switzerland, Ronald Lavater, CEO, emphasized the significance of this partnership in advancing the IHF’s vision of improving global healthcare through excellence in hospital leadership.

In a rejoinder, Dr. Amit N. Thakker, President of AHF, said, “Collaboration is vital in strengthening health systems and improving healthcare service delivery. As we enter into this partnership with IHF, we are excited and optimistic that, by working together, we can accelerate progress toward universal health coverage,” expressing his belief on a unified approach of enhancing healthcare delivery in the African continent.

The IHF has organized an international congress poised to happen between 8-11 November in Barcelona, Spain, and will be one of the first hybrid healthcare management events in Europe since the beginning of the year.

All sessions will be live-streamed on a dedicated event platform, with recordings available to all attendees for on-demand viewing.

The event will provide a comprehensive experience with a compelling mix of sessions, posters, IHF Awards, hospital visits, networking opportunities, social activities, and an industry exhibition.

The 44th World Hospital Congress, with the overarching theme “People on Board: Transforming Healthcare by Blending Agility, Responsiveness, and Resilience,” will feature over 60 sessions in which more than 200 renowned speakers will share their insights about best healthcare practices implemented around the world.

With this partnership, African healthcare leaders and decision-makers, health services, and healthcare organizations have a forum to discuss key drivers of national and international policy, management, financial trends, and solutions.

“The Congress is a one-stop shop for the healthcare professional seeking the opportunity and environment in which to engage in a 360-degree learning and knowledge-sharing experience among peers,” says IHF on its website.

The collaboration has provided a lucrative platform for African healthcare leaders to engage in areas of mutual interests, potential benefits, and possible collaborations between Africa and the rest of the world.
