SOUTH AFRICA—A new partnership between iMDsoft, the developers of the MetaVision Suite for critical care, and Respiratory Care Africa (RCA), a South African-based healthcare equipment, services, and consumables supplier, has been formed to bring cutting-edge healthcare information technology products to South Africa.

RCA, a leading distributor of medical software and hardware in the healthcare industry and representing global brands in South Africa for over 20 years, is well-positioned to offer iMDsoft products to hospitals across the country.

RCA emphasizes its clinical and patient-focused approach, meeting customers’ needs and demonstrating a strong commitment to delivering the best solutions and the highest level of service.

For iMDsoft, this partnership with RCA represents an important milestone as it marks the company’s entry into the African continent.

It reflects the growing willingness in the region to adopt advanced and specialized IT solutions in perioperative and critical care settings.

iMDsoft remains a global leader in clinical information systems and is a wholly owned subsidiary of N. Harris Computer Corporation, based in Israel, from where the company licenses its systems for use in over 400 hospitals worldwide.

The MetaVision platform automates workflows in various environments, including intensive care, pre-op, anesthesia, step-down units, and general in-patient beds.

Through its channel partner program, iMDsoft collaborates with leading healthcare technology companies, enabling them to lead sales and marketing activities in the local market while providing implementation and support services.

By leveraging the proximity and expertise of its channel partners, iMDsoft can focus entirely on the development and enhancement of MetaVision as a fully scalable critical care solution.

Shahar Sery, Executive Vice President of iMDsoft, expressed his delight at partnering with RCA and launching MetaVision in South Africa.

He emphasized the significance of the South African market stating that “This is a very significant market in the region and the timing is perfect, with South Africa’s private and public health systems poised to take their existing health informatics infrastructure to the next level for the benefit of patients and clinicians.”

Mr. Sery also conveyed his organization’s confidence in the partnership with RCA, stating that their customer outreach and understanding of market dynamics would contribute to building a substantial business in South Africa.

On the other hand, Christiaan De Wet, CEO of RCA, expressed excitement about partnering with iMDsoft and introducing MetaVision to the South African market.

He highlighted the software’s ability to address operational challenges, optimize efficiencies in revenue areas, increase profitability, and sustain growth rates.

De Wet reiterated that RCA would assist health institutions in implementing and adopting iMDsoft’s Electronic Health Record, leveraging their local expertise alongside a well-established global provider of clinical information systems for critical care.

Currently, healthcare institutions face the challenge of delivering positive patient outcomes within budget constraints, staff shortages, multiple care protocols, and increased regulation.

According to the South African Health Review, health outcomes in the country remain poor compared to other middle-income countries with similar health spending.

This is attributed to the inequitable distribution of resources within a two-tiered public and private system, where the private sector consumes 40% of the health budget despite serving only 17% of the population.

The South Africa Lancet National Commission report emphasizes the importance of information technology systems in building a high-quality health system.

It states that resilient, reliable, and resourceful information and communication infrastructure is necessary.

Health information systems enable monitoring of progress in delivering quality health services and achieving national health goals. Strong information technology enhances accountability and improves quality.

Clinic Management Systems (CMS) are health tech software tools that assist medical staff, including doctors, nurses, and clinic assistants.

CMS helps manage healthcare facilities, improve clinic efficiency, streamline operations, facilitate accurate patient claims, reduce expenditure and manual labor, and provide improved patient care.

Good clinic management software is essential for doctors to deliver high-quality treatment and care to their patients, playing an integral role in daily clinic operations.
