UAE – Shaista Asif, Co-Founder and Group Chief Operating Officer of PureHealth, has been elevated to the position of Group Chief Executive Officer following the company’s debut trading on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX).
What’s more, going public with an initial public offering (IPO) on the First Market of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange aligns with its business strategy and simplifies the healthcare group’s management structure.
In a press release, Farhan Malik, Founder and Managing Director of PureHealth, said: “We look forward to Shaista realizing the full potential of PureHealth as a winning healthcare conglomerate that delivers long-term growth and value for all its stakeholders.”
With nearly 16 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Shaista Asif co-founded the PureHealth Group in 2006 and assumed her current role as Group Chief Operating Officer in 2010.
The dynamic, value-driven business leader has overseen multiple successful acquisitions during her time at PureHealth.
For instance, she played an active role in the successful acquisition of Abu Dhabi Health Services Co (SEHA), the National Rehabilitation Center (NRC), and the National Health Insurance Co. (Daman).
Besides acquiring a stake in Ardent Healthcare, she led the landmark acquisition of Circle Health Group, the first-of-its-kind healthcare acquisition by a UAE-based group in the UK, a deal worth more than AED4.4 billion (US$1.2 billion).
Combining the strengths of clinical powerhouses with the UAE’s leading health insurer has enabled PureHealth to operate a scalable healthcare platform.
Shaista Asif also played a key role in the launch of the Emirati Women Chapter, a mentorship initiative dedicated to empowering and inspiring Emirati women.
Moreover, Forbes Middle East ranked Shaista Asif among the top 10 in the 2023 list of the 100 Most Powerful Businesswomen and the number 1 healthcare leader across the region.
As Group Chief Operating Officer, Shaista Asif’s direction has been critical in leading PureHealth’s commitment to a sustainable future.
On top of this, Shaista Asif will continue overseeing several AI-driven initiatives, in line with PureHealth’s vision of transforming the present and future of healthcare as we know it, with a strong focus on making the UAE the land of longevity.
This development follows the company’s groundbreaking decision to become part of the United Nations-backed Race to Zero initiative for Climate Change and to pledge Net Zero emissions by 2040.
This significant step stands as a testament to the company’s relentless efforts to integrate sustainability and climate action into its endeavors.
As part of the leadership restructure, PureHealth Founder Farhan Malik has also been elevated to the position of Managing Director.
Under the new structure, PureHealth Founder Farhan Malik will have an expanded mandate in a continued effort to add value to shareholders.
Farhan Malik is expected to build on the significant momentum achieved in developing PureHealth’s business globally, formulating effective strategies, and ensuring the delivery of service excellence to clients.
Welcoming Shaista Asif as the incoming PureHealth Chief Executive, Farhan Malik stated: “Her exceptional strategic capabilities, proven operational effectiveness and strong experience in both developed and developing markets are significant assets that will undoubtedly propel PureHealth towards greater heights in the healthcare industry.”
