J&J’s MedTech India ties with Karkinos to upskill healthcare workforce in cancer care

INDIA – Johnson & Johnson MedTech India has teamed up with Karkinos Healthcare, an end-to-end oncology solutions platform, for consistent up-skilling initiatives of healthcare professionals in cancer care.

Johnson & Johnson MedTech India and Karkinos will work closely to offer training programs for skilling, reskilling, and upskilling required for healthcare professionals to reduce cancer incidence and mortality rates in the country.

The two parties will develop futuristic programs and infrastructure for the skill upgradation of healthcare professionals in a variety of capacities and capabilities needed for comprehensive cancer treatment.

They will jointly upskill healthcare professionals in Tier 2-3 cities in advanced methods of cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Under the strategic pact, J&J’s digital learning methodology will be combined with Karkinos’ expertise allowing hospitals to set up comprehensive cancer care systems.

The partnership aims to make quality cancer treatment accessible and affordable for everyone by increasing patients’ access to specialized care of oncologists in India.

In his address, Sandeep Makkar, Managing Director of Johnson & Johnson MedTech India, said: “India has the third largest burden of cancer globally.”

He observed that the lack of advanced laboratories, scanning and radiotherapy centers coupled with the limited number of onco-specialists in remote regions adds to the suffering of patients who are forced to travel to bigger cities for treatment.

To bridge the gap in cancer care, Johnson & Johnson has been investing in upskilling surgeons through its physical and mobile institutes, and tie-ups with Centers of Excellence.

The Johnson & Johnson Institute currently offers more than 225 online assets in 25 curriculums, covering 11 surgical specialties. Surgeons enjoy a connected experience through new age learning formats like artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and telemedicine.

Johnson & Johnson MedTech India is committed to making quality healthcare accessible for everyone. We would like to partner with organizations who share this vision,” noted Sandeep Makkar.

Leveraging Johnson & Johnson’s infrastructure and faculty along with Karkinos’ expertise in oncology and lab space, the partnership aligns with their shared vision of reducing global cancer burden.
