INDIA – Johnson & Johnson Private Limited has selected Anuj Virmani as the new Managing Director for its medical device business in India.
Anuj Virmani has been tapped as the new Managing Director for Johnson & Johnson MedTech India as the global medical device provider seeks to expand its reach in the tier II and III cities of the country.
In a press statement, Johnson & Johnson said: “With an exceptional track record of 28 years in the industry, Anuj brings extensive healthcare experience and a strategic patient-centric vision to lead the company’s operations in India.”
As the incoming leader of Johnson & Johnson MedTech India, Anuj is well suited to be an ethical leader, nurture talent, and reinforce the organization’s vision of empowering 1.4 billion lives of Indians.
Prior to being appointed as MD of Johnson & Johnson MedTech India, Anuj has been a part of J&J’s operations since 1995.
He has held leadership roles at Johnson & Johnson including serving as the Chief Financial Officer for the Middle East, Central Europe, Russia, Turkey, and Africa within the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) MedTech division.
“His expertise in General Management, Marketing, Finance, and New Business Development has fuelled successful initiatives such as developing specialties like Bariatric, Thoracic, and Colorectal,” J&J said in a press statement.
Anuj played a crucial role in overseeing Johnson & Johnson’s operations to enhance standards of care and optimize patient pathways.
Moreover, the incoming MD of Johnson MedTech India has a Master’s in Management Studies from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani).
Commenting on the latest elevation, the new MD of Johnson & Johnson MedTech India, Anuj Virmani said: “These are exciting times for India as it transforms itself and marches to become the third-largest economy in the world. I am delighted to return to my homeland and personally witness this phenomenal journey.”
Anuj’s appointment comes as the India-based subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson has deepened its commitment to discovering and developing therapies for various unmet medical needs.
Leveraging Johnson & Johnson’s infrastructure and faculty along with Karkinos’ expertise in oncology and lab space, the partnership aligns with their shared vision of reducing the global cancer burden.
The two parties will develop futuristic programs and infrastructure for the skill upgradation of healthcare professionals in a variety of capacities and capabilities needed for comprehensive cancer treatment.
Under the strategic pact, J&J’s digital learning methodology will be combined with Karkinos’ expertise allowing hospitals to set up comprehensive cancer care systems.
The partnership aims to make quality cancer treatment accessible and affordable for everyone by increasing patients’ access to specialized care from oncologists in India.
Laying out his aspirations, Anuj underscored: “I look forward to collaborating with dedicated care providers, government offices at both central and state levels, and different key stakeholders to enhance healthcare accessibility and elevate the nation’s standards of care.”
