Johnson & Johnson rebrands in South Africa to enhance healthcare innovation

SOUTH AFRICA—Johnson & Johnson has announced a significant rebranding in South Africa, uniting its two business segments under the well-known Johnson & Johnson name.

This move is part of a broader global strategy, first unveiled in September 2023, to modernize the company’s identity and strengthen its focus on healthcare innovation.

As part of the rebranding, the pharmaceutical division, previously known as Janssen, will now operate under Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine.

Meanwhile, the medical technology arm will continue as Johnson & Johnson MedTech.

These changes aim to create a more cohesive identity, reflecting the company’s commitment to addressing complex health challenges with cutting-edge solutions.

Ahmed El Hofy, General Manager at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine South Africa, expressed excitement about this new chapter.

“Though our name has changed, our purpose remains the same,” he stated.

El Hofy emphasized that the company will continue to focus on innovative treatments and patient-centred care, guided by its foundational Credo values.

He also reaffirmed their dedication to supporting patients, healthcare providers, and communities across South Africa and beyond.

Under its new unified identity, Johnson & Johnson aims to leverage its expertise in both medicine and technology to provide smarter, less invasive, and more personalized care.

The company uses rigorous science and compassionate approaches to develop groundbreaking treatments in areas such as oncology, immunology, neuroscience, and pulmonary hypertension.

These efforts align with its mission to create the transformative medicines of tomorrow.

The rebranding also signals a refreshed visual identity for Johnson & Johnson. While staying true to its legacy, the updated brand incorporates modern elements highlighting its innovative and inclusive approach to healthcare.

The new look aims to reflect the company’s warm and caring ethos, emphasizing its dedication to patients and communities.

This step marks a milestone in Johnson & Johnson’s journey in South Africa, further solidifying its role as a leader in healthcare innovation and a champion for patients.

By uniting its divisions under one brand, the company is set to deliver an even greater impact in transforming healthcare for the future.
