KENYA – The Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) Board has elected Mr. Anthony Mwangi as its new Chief Executive Officer for a three-year mandate, effective 15th September 2022, the Association has announced on its website.
With over 20 years of experience, a vast wealth of industry knowledge and proven insight, Mr Mwangi is well suited to continue steering the Kenya Association of Manufacturers in advocating for an enabling business environment.
The new Chief Executive Officer Mr Mwangi brings to the table an extensive experience in public policy, government relations, stakeholder engagement, communications and business development cutting across the transportation, ICT, aviation, and oil and gas industries.
We are excited to have Mr Mwangi on board, following a rigorous recruitment process. Our focus remains on efficient service delivery to our Members and advocating for an enabling environment for a competitive manufacturing sector.
Prior to his appointment to the KAM, he worked at Bolt, Tullow Oil, International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) and Kenya Airways in various capacities.
KAM outlined that Mr Mwangi has a Masters’ Degree in Public Policy and Management from Strathmore Business School, a Bachelor’s degree from University of Nairobi and a Certificate of Public Policy from New York University (NYU).
On his appointment, Mr. Anthony Mwangi said: “I’m excited to take up the new role. I shall work closely with all stakeholders to increase the efficiency and productivity of the local manufacturing sector and drive export-led growth.”
The Incoming CEO Mr. Mwangi also mentioned that he will collaborate with relevant stakeholders to reduce the regulatory burden and ease the cost of doing business as well as advocate for a stable and predictable tax environment and policy.
KAM Chairman Rajan Shah expressed his optimism “We are excited to have Mr Mwangi on board, following a rigorous recruitment process. Our focus remains on efficient service delivery to our Members and advocating for an enabling environment for a competitive manufacturing sector.”
Furthermore, the Kenya Association of Manufacturers announced on its website that Tobias Alando has also been appointed the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
KAM outlined that the new Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for managing the Association’s day-to-day administrative and operational functions along with designing members’ services.
COO Tobias will also be responsible for strategic development and implementation of policies to promote good company culture to steer the Association into a world-class Business Membership Organization (BMO).
